While the original Whitley Neill Gin is inspired by the exotic flavours of Africa, their Rhubarb & Ginger Gin variation takes inspiration from closer to the Whitley family's homestead.
Enjoyably fruity on the nose, with rhubarb preserve and baked apple. Hints of leafy herbs grow in the background.
Orange, ginger and coriander arrive on the palate, though it's still dominated by rhubarb. A core of earthy juniper builds.
A tangy touch of tartness appears later on, balanced by black pepper and gingerbread.
As a long time connoisseur of gin I was recommended to try this delicious gin. I cannot understand the many adverse comments made about this delicious, moreish, superb gin. Obviously they are not very adventurous and have not tried Whitley Neill's Rhubarb and Ginger gin on the rocks ! Large bowl gin and tonic glass or large bowl type glass, plenty of ice cubes, no tonic, no lemon slice. Pour the gin over the ice. Just one glass will not be enough !
I love the original black Whitley Neil. This is not even a poor cousin. More like an alco pop with a big dollop of ginger marmalade. Too sweet, too artificial and just exactly which part of this can be called a gin?
Absolutely Disgusting, couldn't even finish one G&T. the taste is cheap, artificial, tacky.
It seems you either love or hate this gin, personally I like the sweet taste, the mix of rhubarb v ginger is a little off, could do with more rhubarb notes, and a little less ginger.. but tasty and fun
Awful totally not handcrafted spirit to sweet not defined taste tipped down drain .would not buy again yuk!!!!
