Taste the Mediterranean via the south west coast of Scotland with this expression from Solway Spirits! A lip-smacking gin featuring a hefty helping of sun-soaked lemons and oranges, which are added to the gin basket in the still. Ace for warm summer evenings, or perhaps cooler ones too when you're trying to pretend you're somewhere hot.
Vibrantly zesty, with loads of lemon up front. Sweet orange notes stop it from becoming too sour, while a solid core of earthy juniper keeps it all grounded.
Since we were stopping just around the corner from the distillery I picked up a bottle of this, and it does not disappoint. I shall definitely be buying more from here now that we're back home, because this is the best citrus gin I've tasted. There's enough of the orange in there for you to get hints of it, but it's not sweet - too often this style of gin gets overly sweetened to be closer to a liqueur, then tastes odd with tonic. This one sits perfectly with a Mediterranean tonic. Solway are fast becoming one of my favourite distilleries.
