Saignée - Rosé Gin

Named after a preeminent method of creating rosé wine, Saignée is a rosé gin featuring a portion of red wine (Barolo, no less!) blended with the spirit and botanicals. While a lot of pink gins will be made with berries and sweeties and the like, Saignée eschews this trend, being made with juniper, rose petals, violet flowers and fine Barolo (made from Nebbiolo grapes), resulting in the blushing hue and a floral, drying though subtly fruity flavour profile. It goes marvellously in a Negroni garnished with orange (and maybe some fresh rose petals if you've got some to hand).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Exceptionally floral, with prominent Rose and violet, supported by berry sweetness and oily, piney juniper.

Palate Bone dry. Super aromatic, with gentle rose, lemon peel, a burst of red grape and a hint of strawberry.

Finish Fresh and piney juniper lingers alongside floral violet on a dry, tannic finish.

Reviews for Saignée - Rosé Gin
A pink gin that doesn't taste of artificial strawberry!
At last - a grown-up pink gin!!!

The wine used in the blend really comes through - contributing loads of flavour. It's clever that they used botanicals that are present in the tasting notes in the wine too.
