Saignée Rosé Gin launched in late 2019. It gets its name from a rosé winemaking technique. This gin stands out because it uses red wine, particularly Barolo, as a botanical. This gives the gin a pink colour and a floral, slightly fruity flavour.
Instead of the usual berries and sweeteners in pink gins, this gin uses juniper, rose petals, violet flowers, and Barolo wine. These ingredients give the gin its colour and a floral, slightly dry flavour with a hint of fruit. It works well in a Negroni, especially with an orange slice and rose petals if available.
The gin's aroma is strong, led by rose and violet. There's a hint of berry sweetness and a rich juniper scent. The taste is dry and aromatic, with rose and lemon peel followed by red grape and a hint of strawberry. The finish is fresh and piney from the juniper, with a floral violet note and a dry, tannic aftertaste.
