Fabelhaft means fabulous in German, and this gin sees a fab collab between Portuguese winemaker Dirk Niepoort and Hamburg-based wine merchant Dirk Delventhal. An array of nine botanicals are picked in Niepoort's vineyards in Portugal's Douro Valley, including the Mediterranean cistus flower. The botanicals are sent to Germany, where they're macerated for several days and individually distilled before being blended, with the extra addition of some of the cistus macerated spirit. A superbly fragrant, zesty, and floral expression, ideal splashed in tonic or lemonade.
