The first product from the recently opened Glasgow Distillery Company, in the city of Glasgow is Makar Gin, launched in 2014 and named after the Gaelic word for "poet" or "bard". To make it, they use their copper pot still - affectionately called Annie - and seven botanicals, including juniper, angelica root, liquorice, coriander seed, lemon peel, rosemary, black peppercorns and cassia bark. Juniper-led, backed up by citrus and spice, with angelica and rosemary standing out on the palate and finish.

This is Dec 1 in the Ginvent calendar. I didn't find the flavor all that strong. I love the smell and taste of rosemary and it's clearly there in this gin.
First impressions were of being slapped in the face by a juniper bush, however the strong taste did grow on me as the bottle got emptier. Like this one but if you drank it all the time it would make everything else seem tasteless.
I've tried many gins and this one is a real stand-out gin that is a real treat. Great robust flavour that stands out from the crowd and one that will keep me coming back for more.
The flavour is a disappointment. There is a slight taint to this which I couldn't pin down - perhaps plastic is used somewhere in the distilling process? Best drunk as a pink gin - the bitters help mask the off flavour. At present, my least favourite from a great selection of gins.
