Jawbox Gin comes to us from the Ards Peninsula, on the north-east coast of Northern Ireland. This small batch gin is made with a combination of 11 botanicals, including juniper, lemon, cubeb, angelica, coriander, cassia, orris root, grains of paradise, cardamom, liquorice root and Black Mountain heather. The distillers recommend trying this with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime.
Peppery juniper starts it off, followed by fragrant angelica and citrus. Fresh pine begins to grow as it develops, with cardamom adding a hint of spice.
I am a big fan of jawbox especially with ginger ale and honeycomb.
Rapidly becoming one of my favourite gins. (alongside Whitley Neill and Martin Miller's). It's distinctive, quite sweet and incredibly refreshing. I pair it with slimline fever tree (like all my gins). Give it a shot and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Superb flavour, but I was so impressed by the bouquet it took ages to take my first sip, I breathed it deeply for ages, heavenly fragrance.
I'm sorry to say being from Northern Ireland mysself but this is a very poor gin. Bought it from Tesco in Enniskillen at the cost of £32 which I would put in the medium to premier price bracket for Gin. However when I tried it that night I was really disappointed and I somehow doubt the overall alcohol level it contains. Personally I wouldn't be able to share this bottle without feeling some effect but both my girlfriend and I looked at each other in complete bewilderment after the bottle had been consumed with no effect. Whats more disappointing is that a month ago I had emailed the company feeling hard done by but received no reply. Would definitely not recommend and feel hard done by.
Had it in parlour bar newtownards with wedge of lime and fever tree tonic. Excellent
