Dartmouth Gin
This small batch craft gin was distilled in Devon by the Dartmouth Distillery Company in a specially designed and hand-built still by the Müller family from the Black Forest in Germany, who have made stills for generations. The botanical selection includes herbs, flowers and fruit from around the world, as well as some that were locally sourced from Calancombe Estate.
Bright juniper leads, among lavender and liquorice. A hint of lemon peel emerges among warm spice from grains of paradise, cardamom and cubeb berries.
At our recent “Gin” get together this was one of the gins we selected for the blind tasting. We like to try the new entries to the market. Dartmouth English Gin was voted 1st choice by 9 out of the 12 participants! It’s great on its on or with tonic.
A really smooth Gin, clearly expertly crafted.
One of the best gins I have tasted for a while. The depth of flavour can only be achieved by allowing the botanics the time to infuse, unlike other gins where the process is rushed through. Definitely in my Top 5 gins!
