Carlisle Gin

The city of Carlisle has long been without its own gin, though this bottle here is on its way to changing that. The gin was originally created in order to kickstart the process of building a distillery, which the folks at the now-established Cumbria Distilling Co could consider a smashing success. Carlisle Dry Gin is a traditional juniper forward gin using only five botanicals, blended with fresh spring water from the Eden Valley before it is bottled at 40% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Juniper forward, followed by distinct floral notes of elderflower and chamomile with a drizzle of honey, sweet citrus peel and orange oil with creamy vanilla lingering on the finish, and just a prickle of black pepper spice.

Great gin
Love it! Bought it to try because I was born in Carlisle many years ago. It’s a really nice gin.

Superb well done
I called in at the Halston in Carlisle Warwick Road and asked for a G & T which brand Sir? as it comes please(thinking Gordons) the Bar Tender suggested Carlisle Gin, okay so's I, well blow me down, when I got back to the table, after tasting it, I was blown away, when I recovered, I went straight back to the bar and ordered a Double Carlisle Gin n Tonic, just one tonic.

Made in my hometown 🥰
Absolutely love it, made in my hometown of Carlisle, a beautiful city and a beautiful gin to match.

Impressed.
I wasn't expecting much from this, but it is a really excellent gin. Very impressed, and now after the original batch 1 - it is now made fully in Carlisle I've heard! Great stuff made in my hometown, though I don't live there anymore. Well done Carlisle Distillery.

Actually cracking!
I didn’t have high hopes for this, but it’s lovely, soft complex and juniper forward. Excellent!

A cracker!
I'm not from Carlisle, but this is amazing, smooth, soft and well made gin! Reminds me of the Botanist, only softer and more vanilla. Don't overdo the tonic though. Keep it simple.

Lovely Local Gin
This is my new 'house gin'! It's smooth and versatile, great with a bit of orange or lemon for me. I've also had it with strawberries and cucumber which adds a different dimension to it as well. Lovely gin! It was behind the bar at a charity event i attended last week and i think we drank them dry.

Bland & Harsh
Bought this gin as a gift for my partner at Christmas because we're local to the area and we both found it so disappointing. There's no real distinctive flavour to it (it really could just be any old gin) and its so harsh! We've never had a "premium gin" burn so much, it really is like drinking a supermarkets own brand rubbish. Carlisle deserves better
