Cotswolds Dry Gin Bottling Note

The Cotswolds Distillery in Stourton is up and running - hooray! This is their Cotswolds Dry Gin, made with juniper, coriander and angelica root macerated in their pure wheat spirit for 24 hours. Following this, they add a botanical selection including bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper, cardamom seed and Cotswolds lavender to their carter head still for distillation. To bring it down to bottling strength, a robust 46% ABV, they use naturally refined Cotswolds water.

The Cotswolds Distillery also released its own single malt whisky in 2017 - so you can get your hands on a bottle now!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Light, floral juniper blends well with the Cotswolds lavender. This soon gives way to the vibrant grapefruit peel and warming cardamom.

Palate: Opening with grapefruit, fresh juniper and black pepper, followed by herbaceous notes of bay leaf, coriander and angelica. More lavender brings a bright, delicate character to the full-bodied gin.

Finish: Refreshingly clean on the palate, with lime and bay leaf.

Cotswolds Dry Gin Reviews

I love it, outstanding taste.
Please let me now when you can ship to Sweden.

smooth and light but little taste

I've been trying a few of the gins using the 3cl samples (great fun!). I find this one is smooth but too light and subtle for me. Very easy to drink but no so satisfying.

An authentic and zippy Gin. No turning back!

We have been drinking Gin for years. Have many favourites But Cotswold Dry Gin has to be our new favourite. It is exquisite and beautifully balanced leaving the palate begging for more! We have been converting our friends!

Best there is

Cotswold dry Gin is beautiful the best I’ve ever tasted. I went on a tour of the distillery Around 3 yrs ago and after having a sample had to buy a bottle and haven’t stopped praising it since

one of the best

can't fault this gin, punchy juniper and grapefruit. So much flavour! definitely in my top 5

Must buy

Extremely enjoyable gin. Now working our way through our second bottle. Highly recommended.

Awful variation on gin

My wife bought me this as a birthday present. I had read the label and it stated that it was a version of a London him so she bought a bottle. To my surprise when I added the tonic it turned a funny colour and it tasted nothing like a London gin. Very strong lavender tones and frankly quite horrible. If I had known about the lavender then I would have avoided it. Mis selling when you go by the label. My advice is avoid at all costs. Expensive and unpalatable.

Excellent gin for both G&T and Martinis

Lets leave the distillers to argue about whether a gin should or should not louche (become cloudy when tonic is added due to the formation of light oil emulsions), this is a great gin for both G&T and Martini.

If you like Martini, an extra dry Vermouth such as Sacred English Dry works really well

Mixed with fever tree Indian tonic and accompanied with slice of pink grapefruit - sensational!!!

Knockout Gin

I love this gin. Amongst my very favourites. Pairs wonderfully with Strangelove dirty tonic. A combo I keep going back to.

13th December 2018

Great tasting

It’s so botanical. You can really smell the lavender and when you add tonic it goes opaque.

Superb Gin, it has displaced Tanqueray No 10 and Sipsmith VJOP from their joint number one spot in my favourites list. Cotswolds Distillery Gin really is an outstanding tipple.

Beautiful bottle and aesthetic...sadly, for me, its nothing special... Great for gin based cocktails because of the underlying notes, but with a g&t?...very flat, personally speaking.

A Game Changer

Approaching sixty, I have always disliked gin, never understood the attraction and with currently more than thirty five Malts open and being consumed slowly, you can see where my loyalty lies.

This Gin is a game changer.
From the first taste I was hooked... I can even drink it neat which NO other gin has persuaded me to do.
The botanicals predominately pink grapefruit and lavender are delicious and each and every way I have tried drinking this I have enjoyed it. I have even started buying gins now on the back of it.
I understand we all have different palates but anyone not enjoying this suggests a faulty palate, not a faulty gin.

No thanks.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment in my gin collection. Beautiful bottle, great reviews but to me this just doesn`t taste right. Meh...

You have to try this

Phenomenal. Wonderful citrus blast with juniper bite. Well deserving of its status as best gin in the world.

2nd September 2017

Numero uno.

Probably the finest, best botanically balanced gin I have ever tasted. We also went to the distillery last fall and had a blast. Well informed, pleasant people willing to share their time and knowledge with us. Does extremely well with G&Ts, but makes an unbelievable dry martini.

Excellent taste

Well rounded full flavour lots of taste yummy

10th March 2017

Superb gin

Wow. Fantastic in a Negroni or G&T.

We don't have a huge selection of gins in Cyprus, but today, I found that my local store had expanded their gin to include the Cotswolds Dry Gin. Fab - u - lous! I hope they keep the stock levels high!

26th November 2016

Greatest Gin

This is the greatest gin of all time! One of the best, clearly. If you don't like this gin, you are probably not a 'real' gin lover. Enjoy!

18th October 2016

Great gift...for myself!

Truly brilliant. Martini to perfection. Took a trip to the distillery to see the process and was even more amazed.

28th September 2016

I would love to see who wrote this is a "beyond vile" gin and see what ratings they have given other gins because maybe they shouldn't be drinking gin! I happen to think this is beyond my wildest dreams for a dream.

7th September 2016

Cheers to quality

I guess the "gin purists" out there don't like the non-chill filtering side of things. Well I say, 'to h*ll with em!' This gin is remarkable. 3 cheers for cotswolds!

25th August 2016

Equal parts turpentine, pink grapefruit fresh, and elderflower liqueur---fantastically tasty; ice only

27th May 2016

Beyond vile

Not nice at all

25th May 2016

One of the best gins I've tried, lovely citrusy notes and slight pepperiness off the back of the palate. Simply fantastic

14th April 2016

Splendid gin!

For someone that doesn't consistently drink gin, I consider myself hooked on Cotswolds delightful gin. It's very crisp, clean and bright.

24th February 2016

Definitely THE Best

It's one of the few gins where you can taste exactly what is in it. 9 botanicals and each one is like a rollercoaster ride of flavor. I like it in a dry martini with a twist and a turn of black pepper!

13th February 2016

Roy Drew

Fantastic! That says it all.

30th November 2015

Beautiful citrus gin

Drink it with a generous slice of pink grapefruit in an ice filled balloon glass

Another of my faves alongside Monkey 47 and Hven. Love the way the oils go cloudy when you add tonic.

5th October 2015

Gorgeous, fresh gin!

This is a delicious herby gin that brings to mind Monkey 47, Hendricks and Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub gin... but refreshingly different at the same time. It delivers a beautiful balance of botanicals and a nice punch too. I, too, visited the distillery and walked away with more bottles than senses. Lucky me! I cannot wait to indulge again. Great stuff.

18th June 2015

Wow!! Great stuff!!

Beautiful nose of Juniper with a touch of lavender. Really smooth. Love it straight as a sipping gin, as well as with a good tonic. I'm typically a whisky drinker, but the richness and complexity of this gin has made me reassess. Discovered while on holiday in the Cotswolds.

11th April 2015

Very smooth and refreshing gin, nice over ice or with a good tonic -was lucky enough to go on a tour of the distillery and everybody was really friendly and focused on producing a first class product - in my opinion they have succeeded and I look forward to their whisky in 2017
