Chilgrove created its Bramble Gin by combining 100% grape-alcohol with crystal-clear South Downs natural mineral water alongside twelve carefully balanced botanicals including blackberry. The resulting gin was then infused with whole English blackberries and bottled at 42% ABV to create this pleasingly ruby-red tipple that's just bursting with fruit flavour.
Subtle spice, fresh juniper and crisp citrus complement the heaps of juicy blackberry and redcurrant.
The tasting note above is pretty accurate. There is a subtle spiced warmth about it and, overall rich redcurrant flavour. Mix it with strawberry halves and it comes out slightly sweeter with the right mixer, which brings a variation to it's flavour. With so many berry gins around it's hard for any of them to stand head and shoulders at the top. Chilgrove is definitely one of the better, as it avoids the overly sweet/sickly trap others fall into.
