Blackwoods 2017 Vintage Dry Gin

Blackwoods 2017 Gin Bottling Note

Each year, the Blackwoods distillers in the Shetlands create a gin with a vintage, making use of the botanicals available locally, leading to each vintage being slightly different to the last. This is the 2017 edition, which ought to make for a fantastic Bramble cocktail, we reckon...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Warming cassia and black pepper, savoury thyme, floral vanilla, a touch of lemon zest.

Reviews for Blackwoods 2017 Vintage Dry Gin
Smooth and easy to drink.
Simple, elegant and easy to drink. No fancy flavours required, just fever tree tonic and a slice of lemon…

Okay, but…
Pleasant enough gin - it’s certainly very smooth - but disappointingly bland.

I’m not into flavoured or coloured ‘novelty’ gins, but this is very unassertive, with no real character other than a steady roundness and a citrus tang. There are far more interesting gins at this price point - I wouldn’t rush to buy again.

Nice enough…
Very smooth indeed, and pleasant, but rather bland. Wouldn’t rush to buy again.

Unremarkable
I tried an older vintage of Blackwoods and enjoyed it but this is ok but nothing special at all.

One of the very best.
This gin is addictive. Smooth, refined superb taste, but for some reason doesn't linger for long in the bottle!
