Tiptree Liqueurs

Tiptree liqueurs are quintessentially English drinks based on the flavours that have been produced on the Trewlands farm since the early 1700s. You might not know that name, but you’re probably more familiar with Wilkin and Sons, thanks to the preserves it has in pretty much every supermarket (they’re the posh-looking jars with the big white sticker). The family has been growing fruit and making jam and more since 1865 in the Essex village of Tiptree and is known for its Little Scarlet strawberries, multiple tea rooms, and brands such as Thursday Cottage, Cole's Puddings, and Tiptree Patisserie.

It’s this expertise, as well as access to some of the finest plums, cherries, medlars, quinces, damsons, and mulberries the English countryside has to offer that makes its liqueur business so popular. Today, the farms cover 850 acres (that’s about 300 cricket pitches) and welcome 4,000 visitors each year. You can always bring the taste of Tiptree home with you, however, by picking up some of the delightful drinks you see below.
