Strawhill Estate Spirits Co Gin

Strawhill Estate sits in the Co Down hills. It houses a historic distillery by the River Lagan in Donaghcloney. This village was famous for its linen industry. The William Liddell & Co Ltd Linen Mill, a symbol of top craftsmanship, was here.

At the distillery's heart is Brünhild, a 230L copper pot still. Named after a legendary Germanic figure, it's made to our design in Bavaria, Germany. It has 2 bubble plates and an ‘aRomat’, ensuring we only produce the purest spirits.

Our first spirit, Jacquard Gin, honours Donaghcloney's textile past. Named after a cloth-weaving process, it's smooth and delicate. The gin blends citrus and spice with subtle floral notes, giving a fresh, complex taste.

Strawhill Estate's history is tied to the linen industry. The nearby William Liddell & Co Ltd Linen Mill was Ireland's biggest for Irish Linen Jacquard Weaving. It sold linens globally, including to The White Star Line and the Titanic. The estate has family links to the mill and its era.

We take great care in sourcing our water. It comes from sandstone bedrock in the Lagan Valley. The River Lagan provides crystal-clear water with ideal minerals. This same bedrock once supplied Belfast's early 20th-century mineral water industry.

For Jacquard Gin, we choose botanicals from around the world. These include juniper from Croatia, cardamom from India, orris root from Morocco, rose from Pakistan, and lavender from France. These 12 botanicals make up our signature gin recipe. Our botanical selection shows our commitment to quality and global spirit heritage.
