Spirit of Bermondsey

The Spirit of Bermondsey was founded by Nick Johnson, who chose a name that is a play on words – it is a spirit company based in Bermondsey, but it also seeks to capture the sense of this unique part of London. The ambition was to create a company with some social purpose, so Spirit of Bermondsey shares a proportion of its profits with local charities while also supporting local businesses and artists. The brand’s signature product is Trinity25, a fresher alternative to gin bottled at 25% ABV. It’s made with 100% English grain spirit, cold-infused with juniper and a ‘trinity’ of spiced botanicals – cardamom, coriander seed and black pepper, inspired by the evocatively named warehouses of Bermondsey – Nutmeg House, Cardamom Building, Vanilla and Sesame Court – after the spices they originally stored. The other core product is Session Spirit, another option between a full-strength spirit and entirely non-alcoholic serves bottled at 25% ABV which gives gin lovers a “sessionable” alternative.
