The Portsmouth Distillery Co. was established in Fort Cumberland, located at Eastney Point at the entrance to Langstone Harbour, by ex-Naval officers Vince Noyce and Giles Collighan, who have also run The Rum Club Ltd for the past few years, and Dich Oatley, who spent time working in the wine trade. It’s a distillery that celebrates the history of Portsmouth and its strong naval connections, hence why it is housed in one of the most impressive pieces of eighteenth-century military architecture in England.
Its spirits are distilled in a 500L pot still, named Sophie Wu, and a 4 plate column still, two lovingly restored casemates that were once used to store ammunition for Nelson’s Navy.
