Mainbrace Rum began at The Ferry Boat Inn in Cornwall. Watching gig rowers and sharing rum sparked an idea. This idea was to create a rum full of friendship and joy.
Vision and Creation
The goal was to create a rum for all tastes. It needed to be perfect for a refreshing drink, a fancy cocktail, or neat. The family behind the brand aimed for something versatile and unique.
Unique Blend and Inspiration
The rum is a blend of two different styles from Guyana and Martinique. It is smooth and has no additives. This blend led to the name 'Mainbrace', from the phrase "Splice the Mainbrace." This term stands for courage, teamwork, and friendship. It comes from a naval tradition. Successful sailors got a double ration of rum or gin for their bravery.
Product Range
Mainbrace Rum has two main types: Premium Golden Rum and Navy Strength Rum. The Premium Golden Rum blends rums aged 2-5 years from Guyana and unaged agricole from Martinique. It has aromas of dried fruits and toffee, with notes of sweet apple and spices. The taste starts with grassy notes, then caramel and toffee, and ends smooth and spicy.
The Navy Strength Rum is bottled at 54.5% ABV. This matches the Royal Navy Standard. This strength meant that gunpowder soaked in the rum could still light. This is why it's called "proof." It has a nose of sweet wood and dried fruits. It has peppery spice, sweet treacle, and a hint of spiced vanilla.
Packaging and Branding
Mainbrace Rum's packaging reflects its naval theme and high quality. The design is elegant. It focuses on the brand's story and naval history.
