Domaine de la Charbonnière, located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, has been in the winemaking business since 1912. It covers about 19.5 hectares. Eugène Maret first bought this land as a gift for his wife. Since then, the Maret family has looked after the vineyard for many generations.
Fernand Maret and his wife Jeanne, and later Michel Maret and his wife Mireille, have carefully managed and grown the vineyard. Since 2012, the family’s fourth generation, daughters Véronique and Caroline Maret, have been in charge. They continue the family’s careful approach to winemaking.
The vineyard has different terroirs, like Mourre des Perdrix, Haute Brusquieres, and Gallimardes. Each area adds something special to the wines. The Maret family focuses on keeping tradition and using careful vineyard practices. They make wines that show the unique qualities of their land. They do this while keeping the calm and thoughtful approach passed down through their family.
