Arehucas Rum Distillery
Arehucas is a historic Canary Islands rum distillery based in Arucas on Gran Canaria. Its origins go back to 1884, when the Fábrica de San Pedro opened producing sugar, sugar cane distillates and rum. Today the Arehucas range includes white, golden and aged rums, along with liqueurs and flavoured bottlings.
The distillery became officially known as Destilerías Arehucas in 1965, taking its name from Arucas itself. The Canary Islands have a long and complicated rum tradition, built around sugar cane cultivation and Atlantic trade. Arehucas also has one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, with thousands of American oak barrels resting on site. This ageing stock supports a range that moves from cocktail-friendly light rums to richer aged expressions designed for sipping.
