Champagne
France
1 Jan 2012

A wonderful 2012 vintage Champagne from the wonderful Perrier-Jouët, Belle Epoque is produced predominantly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, with a small amount of Pinot Meunier in there too. The Japanese white anemones that adorn the bottle were created by Emile Gallé back in 1902 for the very first vintage, with less than 30 vintages produced to date. As always it doesn't disappoint, with a bright burst of florals and orchard fruit in this especially impressive 1.5 litre magnum.
Underripe pear, sugared almond and peony flowers, with lemon blossom and white nectarine leading into a crisp mineral finish.
