Description

The folks at Decadent Drinks treat us to something rather special here – its a 20-year-old Calvados bottled in collaboration with the Roger Groult estate. Blended from an assemblage of 2003-2006 vintages, it showcases the complexity of traditional Pays

d’Auge Calvados superbly, with layers of delicate apples and rustic charm. A release of 120 bottles.

Nose

Deep and autumnal, bruised apples, caramelised brown sugar, pipe tobacco, soft earth and mossy tree bark with hints of rancio and dark manuka honey.

Palate

Rich and mouthfilling, yet highly subtle and elegant. More beautiful rancio and darker apple notes, dried and preserved apples of various types, hints of camphor, wood resins and tiny medicinal herbal notes: some date molasses, sultana and dried flowers.

Finish

Long, soft, focused again on tobaccos, old exotic hardwoods, treacle, farmhouse cider and sandalwood.
