This one is all about the barley. The Golden Promise Edition is made with 100% Golden Promise barley, and not a grain of Laureate. It’s grown on Morrison farms and taken from barley to bottle at Aberargie in Perthshire, one of Scotland’s youngest distilleries, where the farming, distilling, maturation, vatting, blending and bottling all happen.
It’s matured entirely in first-fill casks, split 68% bourbon barrels and 32% sherry butts, so bourbon casks take the lead here. Its sibling, the Laureate Edition, flips that ratio the other way round. It’s bottled at 48.2%, non-chill filtered and at natural colour.

The Laureate Edition is the other half of the pair: 100% Laureate barley, with none of the Golden Promise. It’s also grown on Morrison farms and taken from barley to bottle at Aberargie.
The casks are where it gets interesting. Like the Golden Promise Edition, it’s matured entirely in first-fill casks, but the ratio flips to 68% sherry butts and 32% bourbon barrels, so sherry takes the lead this time. It’s bottled at 48.2%, non-chill filtered and at natural colour. Already got the Golden Promise Edition? Pour them side by side.

Both are bottled at 48.2% from 100% first-fill casks. Two things change: the barley, and the split of bourbon barrels to sherry butts, which flips between the two.

Aberargie’s first single malt. The Barley Editions keep the two barleys apart, but the Inaugural brings them together: 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate, matured in an even split of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. Your last chance to grab a bottle.

The barley is grown on Morrison farms, and everything from distilling, maturation, vatting, blending and bottling happens at Aberargie.
The new Aberargie Expressions: The Barley Editions puts that barley front and centre, with one bottling made from Golden Promise and one from Laureate.
