Rasteau is located in the southern Rhone valley not far from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and a more rustic and much cheaper version of its illustrious neighbour is a good way to think about it. This is a grenache-dominated blend that's chock full of flavour and alcohol - 14.5% - so approach with caution. Drink now for the full fruit effect with hearty food or keep and it will develop nutty aromas.
Spicy medicinal nose, cooked strawberries, touch of herbs. Supple, ripe tannin, dark fruit, rosemary, red fruit, and a little leather. Rich and boozy but not overblown, this has a nice fresh edge.
