This limited-edition Yamazaki 18 Year Old was released to mark House of Suntory's 100th anniversary. Mizunara oak casks are the star of the show here, and Suntory began experimenting with mizunara wood as early as the 1940s! It imparts a distinct spiciness and incense-like flavour whisky – a dram fit for a centenary birthday indeed.
Truffles, thick bitter marmalade and resin. Potpourri and heavy Oloroso sherry.
A rich, bittersweet palate with heather roots, cigar leaves, honey, toffee apples, plum wine and black pepper. A touch of rancio, perhaps…
Long, fruity, marmalade-led finish.

This is one of the best minzunara cask.
By far the richest and most tastiest whisky I've tried. Highly recommended to open this bottle up. Might I add, that this one is better than the 2017 version.
