Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon to you in United States at the moment. We're working on a solution.

Woodford Reserve Bottling Note

The mashbill for Woodford Reserve features a high percentage of rye: 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malt. Unusual also for being triple distilled and having the lowest proof upon entering the barrel where it matures for at least six years. A must have Kentucky bourbon. Makes a wonderful Old-Fashioned cocktail!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Quite thick and creamy. There are notes of honey and spice, leather, a touch of cocoa, a little smoke, toasty oak and vanilla cream with a hint of butterscotch.

Palate: Thick and full. There are notes of espresso beans, winter spice, cereal sweetness, plenty of rye, ground ginger, almond oil, toasty oak and a little rum.

Finish: Long and mature with notes of cereals and toasty oaken spice.

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon Reviews

My favourite bourbon so far.

Warming, tasty and silky smooth

27th November 2020

Milan tyagi

Drinking it now in Germany dil se indian maza a gya

21st November 2020

A must have for anyone with a bar.

WR is my go to. I work at a high end liquor store in GA, and enjoy a good single malt, or bottle of Weller, as much as the next guy who enjoys the finer things in life. But for the price and availability, but when it comes to bourbon, WR is my daily sipper. The aroma and flavor are more smooth than one would think at 90 proof(90.4 for you perfectionists). If i had to drink only one spirit for the rest of my life, it would be WR.

28th October 2020

Enjoy what u have

Outstanding need I say more.
My brother bought me a bottle for my 50th birthday. Still enjoying it 😜

24th October 2020

good - even for Speyside lovers

Excellent bourbon, even for single malt fans of rich Speysides, with caramel, butter and leather and a nice nose - wonderful affordable daily sip...neat in the colder weather

14th October 2020

The journey

Bourbon in Uk supermarkets, we probably have 3-4 at most to choose, this one I picked up randomly started me off on my bourbon journey, because it’s so damn tasty!! And thanks to master of malt I have many many bourbons and ryes. I have gone through many bottles of this stuff
If you like that rye spice this is for you, it’s perfectly balanced and flavourful, and has a good rye kick with fruits, caramel, vanilla, baking goods, honey oak and orange peel
Nice bottle and great price

3rd October 2020

Hell Yeah!!!

Fine favourite

30th September 2020

They know their job!

Batch 729. Bottle 319. 43,2% abv. To me it is a safe blind buy, whenever its gone. I do prefer Jack SB and 4R SB, though. But having all three always at the reach of my hand, priceless!

30th August 2020

Woodford is my favourite go down easy and packs a bit of a punch

15th August 2020

High quality for the money.

I was late to the party with Woodford unfortunately. I have tried all the bourbons below £35 and its between this, Wild Turkey and Four Roses, with Bulleit creeping up behind. It's fantastic stuff. If your new to Bourbon i would start with this. You won't be disappointed.

10th July 2020

50-60% abv would be soooo better :-(

I am kinda wanna cut down a bit, lagers are done here. Only 6 bottles in my cabinet. Currently. Abi 66, Livet 15, Livet 12 (the new blue one), devils cut new bottle, JDSB 6.19.19. But, damn. This at casks strenght would be up there with abi. Batch is 693. Bottle 2994. I was so like happy to find this rusty bottle in the local SM. I had 2 bottles from this batch before. Maj ajz ar roling. ;-)

5th July 2020

The dog’s bollocks.

A stunning bourbon over ice. Smooth and creamy with a spicy finish.

3rd July 2020

The best everyday bourbon.

Wonderfully smooth, very little burn for a cheap bourbon. Makes Old No.7 taste like ethanol.

28th June 2020

My new favourite bourbon

Simply fantastic: smells creamy, sweet, slightly spiced and tastes even better; silky smooth, little bite but enough to give you a smile, very enjoyable spicy Rye aftertaste but not enough to overpower the vanilla and butterscotch notes.

Overall I'm really happy with this bottle.

24th June 2020

Better by far than JD

Relatively new to bourbon but I have tried quite a few... This bourbon is by the far the best. It is very smooth and flavoursome at a reasonable price.

21st June 2020

A stunning drink, great value for money

I do not understand some the negative comments, but I guess that we are all different! I totally agree with the tasting notes. I love the long lingering finish. One question - I have a couple of bottles at 43.2% and I have bought I find is 45.2% - is this a different blend? As yet this bottle is unopened.

21st June 2020

Ripped off

Got to admit the Double Oaked on special at $71AU was a bit rich. But WTF that's why we work. First sip, yeah you can taste the Oak. But in the end if me and my mate can't finish a bottle with a smile it's shit.

19th June 2020

Average at best

Was eager to try from reading all the good reviews. Not the best and not the worst but definitely not good enough to buy again.

13th June 2020

Best bet for the price

I dont understand some of the negative reviews. This is a top notch bourbon for a reasonable price. I love the spicy, minty finish.

7th June 2020

The Best

I have tried all of the bourbons around this price point and below. Without a doubt Woodford Reserve is the best you will find. Incredible value. Straight on the rocks, it is perfect.

27th May 2020

You just cannot go wrong.

I am new to whisk(e)y's. I tried a rye and hated it. I did not know this is a rye whisk(e)y. Purcheses it today as well as LAGAVULIN 16 . I love this rye.

19th April 2020

An amazing bottle of bourbon whiskey.

Well, this is my first bottle of Woodford Reserve and I’m seriously impressed. It has a clean, deeply woody yet sweet favour with a slight smoke finish. Perfect over ice and left to melt a short while, it’s now my go to bourbon.

4th April 2020

How to dislike this?

Smooth as best cognacs, better than most of the garbage booze. In my 15-20 bottles bar it is always a member. Emptied? New comes in! Rotates in my first top 10! Sipper all the way, or straight from the bottle if you like that. Bottle feels phenomenal in the hand. This is miles better from the likes of chivas 12, regular jack, or even 4 roses SB at 50%. I prefer jack SBs, abanudhs, nadurras, ABV is my thing....This in casks strength would be my top 3! Still a very good stuff, a blind buy. Trust my words.

28th February 2020

Really nice

top 5 for me

7th February 2020

New to bourbon, now in love with bourbon!

New to bourbon and now in love with bourbon. Bourbon has always been described as sweet and spicy. Oh, my God is this sweet and spicy. I'm usually a scotch drinker but if you want a change from it, give this bourbon a try.

Well above it's price range. Soft and smooth on the nose and palate. Simply delicious.

31st December 2019

sweet kick in palates

My first go at bourbon and it delivers. sweet smell. Smooth taste. play with the sip in the mouth and the spices explodes. Need to try more

9th November 2019

Buy makers mark instead

I am a bourbon person. I went through the reviews and decided to try it. Definitely smells like acetone!!! Honestly it just smells like acetone. I just wasted my money. Would never recommend it to anyone.

20th October 2019

B E A utiful

Ah mate I cannot describe this, it's just so darn good. Try it.

20th October 2019

Smooth, and mostly non-offensive

I'm early in my own process of trying to appreciate mid to lower priced whisky's and have been sampling a variety recommended to me by a local retail distributor, but after tonight I cancelled my little tournament and stored the others away for when I need to dig a bullet out of my leg. This is far away the best of those I've sampled thus far. But, it's early in my process, so time will tell.

5th October 2019

Best in its price range and we'll above.

Best Bourbon in my price range. I usually buy it when the price drops to about £25. Excellent flavour, I like it neat with no ice cubes. I simple enjoy every drop of it.

14th September 2019

Money well spent

Very smooth, sweet bourbon. The subtle charred oak flavor is warm, but never overpowering. This bourbon can be enjoyed alone, or paired with many different foods/desserts. Easily, one of my favorites!

8th September 2019

Thin and harsh, disappoing

I thought that it would be better than it is!

6th September 2019

Just great

The best burbon I've tasted by far. Brilliant

14th August 2019

Pricey, but plenty to be happy about

Can't beat the Master Of Malt tasting notes on this - even with a dash of water it is voluptuous.

14th August 2019

Stocked up on 43.2% and 45% Bottles 👌

I've got 20 unopened bottles of 43.2%
And also another 10 unopened bottles of the 45%

In Australia we only have 40% Alcohol strength these days

Glad I stocked up for the years ahead.
Suits me just fine this bourbon combined with and without Cola on the rocks 👌

21st June 2019

Overrated & Terrible

Bitter, harsh & about as smooth as well liquor. A massive disappointment.

29th May 2019

Very enjoyable

First taste at 54yo. Never much of a whiskey supper but I have to say this is a mighty fine bourbon. Soft on the first sip and the flavors linger on the palate.

14th April 2019

Definitely one of the best tasting bourbons for the price. My go to.

11th April 2019

Always a hit with me!

One of my top shelf in my bar! Always a hit. Sip it neat or with a big cube!

10th April 2019

My favorite bourbon, rich and smooth.

This is actually my f avorite bourbon. It's nicely thick, super smooth and full of taste. Very unique and rich. You can't go wrong with this one.

17th March 2019

It will do for me

really nice drink this one, this is my go to whisky every time.
not found anything better for the money.....

25th February 2019

very unique amongst all bourbons, must have in your cabinet

a taste unlike any of the other go to bourbons, rich, unique, clean, leaves you wondering how they do it

8th February 2019

Best bourbon out there and very available at a reasonable price

Best bourbon out there especially for the praise and always available my go-to forever

2nd February 2019

Let Down By The Experts!

As an amature conesour of fine craft whiskey I have spent a good deal of time and money on my pallet and have found that woodfords seasonal small batch reserve is by far one of the best. To date the best was the brandy cask finish! The year after (smoked cherry) was a let down in comparison to the brandy cask masterpiece ,however at the same price was worth the crap shoot of paying the fee for a good craft whiskey in hopes it would contend with the previous year. This was definitely not the case, however it was a minor let down in comparison to the travesty of this year's release of the oat grain! Moreover this year the price increased by $20.00 and was by far the worst I have had in the last 3 years. I have had wheat based whiskeys that retail for $25.00-35.00 that were by far more superior! The same in recent years I have given bottles to clients and colleagues for gifts over the holiday season, I buy a case at minimum every year from the same local store. This year I feel let down and almost embarrassed!

8th January 2019

Best ever

Tried this for the first time a few days ago best I have tasted love it with ice or a wee drop of ginger ale better than markers mark this was reduced to £20 a bottle bought another bottle before it goes back up I have drank bourbon for years from Jim beam to jack plus many others but this is true bourbon you must try this well done to this distillery

31st December 2018

Extremely Smooth. Great on a cold evening and great on any evening.

My daughter bought me a bottle for Christmas last year. The smoothest bourbon I have tasted. I drank the whole bottle straight. This year I was ecstatic when my daughter bought me a bigger bottle. Happy as a clam in New Jersey.

23rd December 2018

Excellent, 5 stars at the price point

In my opinion, second only to Wild Turkey Rye and much better than a lot of the expensive Bourbons. Great with a splash of Rochester ginger wine.

20th December 2018

Bourbon is nothing for me (Took me 8 whiskies to figure that out..)

I'm not a bourbon fan so I should not vote this.. that's why I give no stars.
However this was quite good but I don't like the bourbon taste that comes along with all bourbon whiskies (obviously)
I like the saltyness and fruit taste however but this was the last bourbon I will ever buy, just simply cause I can't find any that suits me. I've tried this one, Wild turkey 101, Buffalo trace, Jim beam signature craft 12 years, Bulleit, Jack D, Four roses and Jim beam devil's cut. I just simply can't enjoy a bourbon as much as a single malt.

20th December 2018

Beautiful taste

I’m new to Bourbon. Enjoyed Makers Mark but this is much more superior. Exceptional taste, beautiful on the rocks or with a splash of water! Beautiful.

9th December 2018

I bought it on a free glass promotion, not expecting that it would be anything special. But from the first taste, it’s absolutely, deliciously wonderful. Drinking it neat today, but I look forward to mixing an old fashioned with it.

9th December 2018

Drink it straight

No reason not to drink this straight, it does not need a mixer unless you really want one. Less sweet than some bourbons. Very smooth and smells oddly of old-fashioned coconut ice sweets!

8th December 2018

Great to drink by itself

Very smooth

26th November 2018

Superb at the pricepoint.

As a recent convert... I was always an Islay drinker. I think it's lovely. Creamy smooth lots of butterscotch and some floral notes punctuated by a nice alcohol wallop. Delicious!

5th November 2018

So good

This bourbon whiskey straight is delicious. So far it's my favorite.

31st October 2018

How anyone can give this below 5 star baffles me. It's an excellent bourbon and at a very reasonable price too. I love it.

26th October 2018

Excellent your loss if you pass it by

I am a single malt man, however, I have experienced my share of whiskys being an infantry veteran and this bourbon is by far one of the best I've had the pleasure of sipping. The only one I found better is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Woodford products are my kind of bourbon. 9/10

23rd October 2018

Love good booze... superior sipping wiskey. Replaces Knob Hill for me... easier may be slightly less burn... that 10% makes a difference.

2nd October 2018

My 'treat' Bourbon

By far my favorite. It's hot and has menthol/liquorish undertones and is just a damn fine dram. My only complaint is that the finish could be longer, it fizzles out quite quickly. I really don't get comments knocking WR because it is beautiful and doesn't try to blend in with the rest of the shelf.

18th September 2018

It’s good.

Tasty...Woodford’s does have a bit of an odd taste at first but the flavour is intense and creamy. I prefer this Bourbon on the rocks.

2nd September 2018

It’s so much smoother than you’d expect a 45.2% drink to be.

Sooooo tasty

31st August 2018

As good as it gets.

Unremarkable? Average? OK? Acetone? Paint?
That's just idiotic.
One of the best bourbons around.
Taste? Nose? It's bourbon, and good you know what to expect.

18th August 2018

A Favorite and unique

Usually I drink the scotch peat
monsters Ardbeg & Laphroaig.
Yet when at time I gets the sweetache I prefer this from over the big blue to the too sweet too artificially dye (color added) Scotch Single Malts.
Among the Bourbons I tried over the years this stands out and proud.
Maybe do to the triple distillation in pot stills maybe do to the high qualities of Casks involve maybe probably both.
I find this a very interesting and none boring sip.
It's got the leather and the cardboard the aceton and while the vanilla/honey notes do exist they are not cloyingly the event nor too dominated.
Its sweetness is controlled and balanced with dryness and woodiness.
It's a very fine drink to break on routine for me now and again.

16th August 2018

Maybe I got a bad bottle because I think I've tried it before, but I'm surprised how bad this is. Maybe it's for mixing, but, drinking it neat, it tastes like oil paint smells. I hope it gets better over time.

15th August 2018

Not bad at all.

Damn good bourbon. Drink it neat at room temperature please.

28th July 2018

Way too much acetone on the nose. It overpowered everything else.

22nd July 2018

Unforgettable experience

I am not sure when I have had this elixir the first time. I was and still am as many a single malt lover. But Woodford Reserve has had me rethink US made whisky or bourbon. Smooth, sweet and spicy and filling your palate with its deep aromas. What a wonderful drink and a great way of representing the US bourbon and whisky manufacturers. Woodford Reserve one of my personal favourites.

14th July 2018

We named our lab after the bourbon

Our yellow lab is named Woodford. Boom!

13th June 2018

Perfection 😋

This is the bourbon 🥃 for folks who enjoy the the taste enough to swallow it Slowly and smell the awesomeness coming from the glass or bottle while drinking it.
Simply put it along with knob crk is by far my favorite and only bourbon I wil drink. Thanks for perfection.

1st June 2018

I'm Sold

Not sure what I was in the mood for , I came upon Woodford Reserve. The ABC clerk kept coming back to it as I was asking about a quality Bourbon Whiskey that was credible for sipping. I enjoy the art of tasting quality Whiskeys on 1 ice cube. I'm truly impressed and look forward to experimenting with many more Woodford Reserve products. Thank you for setting the standard for quality taste and enjoyment.

29th May 2018

Best on any shelf

By far my favorite, smooth and goes down easy with the slow burn that warms you. Excellent flavour with a great aroma soon as you open the bottle.

22nd May 2018

Great Stuff!

I used to be a dyed-in-the-wool single malt scotch guy with a preference for the smokey, peaty varieties. But then I found Woodford Reserve and it's just such lovely, drinkable stuff on a few ice cubes, I find my bottle going down more quickly than the malts! It really is a fine on-the-rocks sipping whiskey.

28th April 2018

The only bourbon i like

JD tastes of petrol, knob creek an ash tray.
Woodford reserve is the only bourbon ill touch. I am a scotch drinker and JD/knob creek put me off bourbons until a friend gifted me a bottle of woodford distillers select. Smooth as silk and wonderful tastes come around when paired with smoking a cigar.

6th April 2018

This is my “go to” bourbon! It is a quintessential bourbon from beautiful horse pastures in central Kentucky. Enjoy!

1st April 2018

Great Whiskey

Damn good on the rocks!

13th March 2018

Good bourbon!

Very good bourbon

25th February 2018

Good gear

Smooth, lovely flavour, impressed(first bottle, first taste) recommend to bourbon tasters. Love black bush but this is america's answer to a bloody good whiskey

8th February 2018

Very nice bourbon

As a scotch lover, this is definitely a bourbon I can sip on at any time. It's smooth and sweet, but not overly sweet like so many bourbons. There's a good bit of oak with some vanilla to go with a nice bit of spice, and it lacks that heavy alcohol kick that comes with younger bourbons.

5th February 2018

One of my favourites!

Smooth and full of taste. Unlike others, I always take more than one glass. For the price it's quite a bargain. Great as a gift since the bottle looks great as well

26th January 2018

Complex and delicious

I am a Scotch drinker, used to avoid Bourbon, I got a bottle of WRKB for christmas and I was surprised, is just superb! The smoothness and complexity of flavors is astonishing.

14th January 2018

Top stuff at a good price

Very smooth with notes of caramel, spices, oak, butterscotch

14th January 2018

It has a smooth full consistent nose with a flavour that does not disappoint. It fills the senses with an all round taste that keeps developing. Highly recommended!

29th December 2017

First timer drinking Woodward's reserve but I liked it and will definitely buy it again and I recommend it also for gifting!

16th December 2017

Great change from Tennessee Whiskey

Smokey Bold Oakey flavor served on a ice ball

16th December 2017

The worlds best bourbon period!

My go-to bourbon. A+ fantastic! Best with a very small glass and three small ice cubes. Wait two minutes and then it's pure Heaven! Love Woodford immensely.

10th November 2017

My go to bourbon for an old fashioned.

I think I’d get bored of this quickly as a Sipper, however I’ll never get bored of this as an old fashioned mainstay. Blimey, old fashions will never be the same. Be careful of the cork though, I notice every time, the cork barely seals the bottle mainly due to the tapered inner bottle neck. I keep a spare bruichladdich cork which seems to seal it nicely. Please fix this issue Diageo!!!

2nd November 2017

Gentleman Jack is much better.

24th October 2017

Ok if drinking straight

Ok - so it tastes so different you know it's not whisky -- but does that make it good? To me...tasted like old ginger snaps mixed with stale cheerioes and old Russian rye bread. Much too complicated for a Wisconsin whisky old fashioned :(.

23rd October 2017

Goodbye JD, hello Woodfords

Drank JD since a kid, all my family bought me JD for presents, Christmas and birthdays etc. Tried woodfords 2 years ago and I've never touched JD since. JD tastes like petrol in comparison!

20th October 2017

This is the King of KY Bourbons- a Special Bourbon, Unpretentious and Classic.

This is the King of KY Bourbons. Having sampled different Bourbons over the years, I find the 90.4 proof smooth, meant to be enjoyed neat or maybe an ice cube, to chill. You get a sense of the clean Bluegrass Limestone filtered water, Thoroughbred Class Slick Smoothness and an Open Air aroma. This is a Special Bourbon, Unpretentious and Classic.
Side Note: I keep Old Forrester (Woodford's Grand Daddy) as my House Bourbon and Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon for Good Friends and special occasions.

23rd September 2017

Prefer the Distillers Select over the Derby

Is it just me or is there a noticeable difference in taste between the Kentuckey Derby and the Distillers Select? The latter seems smoother with a lingering butterscotch/caramel flavor.

27th August 2017

You will enjoy

Enjoy drinking this bourbon. Pleasant aroma, nice flavor and smooth finish.

20th August 2017

I liked it so much I never tried anything else.

About 5 years ago, I went on line looking for a decent sipping whiskey. After reading almost everything, I decided to try woodsford Reserve Bourbon. I sip it straight and chase it with really cold Diet Coke.

7th August 2017

A must have.

I am a dyedin the wool
Whiskey drinker and have been for the last 56 years. I had tried very very many of those great drinks be they malts and above or blends. Amongst these are the finest whiskeys you will ever be lucky enough to experience.
However Woodford Reserve is a force to be respected. It's smooth, it's mellow, it's refined, it has great length, great charecter and above all it's sublimely easy drinking.
Have it straight, on the rocks, with water, but above all simply enjoy it.
It's not trying to be anything other than a truely satisfining drink to be enjoyed.
It's got my vote
10 out of 10

26th July 2017

Wonderful bourbon indulgence

Superb taste either neat or very refreshing on ice, having the character or a Bourbon milkshake. A wonderful drink on its own, with your favorite food, aperitif, or as a finish for desert. Simply a wonderful indulgence.

19th July 2017

It was goodly

I liked it, but I know nothing about bourbon

26th June 2017

To me a plain, standard bourbon. Nothing bad with it, but nothing to tell home about. On similar price tag, I prefer Elijah Craig or Knob Creek by far.

9th May 2017

Great for sipping.

Will be buying again. Smooth, flavorful

1st April 2017

Love it

Smooth and tasty. Smell it, drink it as it is, no ice or water. Heaven

22nd March 2017

Unremarkable in every way

What's to say? This has clearly been designed as a "crowd pleaser". Bartenders have a description for this which fits it perfectly... "The whiskey for people who think they're too posh for Jack Daniels". It's smooth, easy drinking and unremarkable in every single way. It's the whiskey equivalent of magnolia paint on your walls. Boring, give me something with a bit of character like Knob Creek/Noah's Mill or even Wild Turkey 101.

9th March 2017

This bourbon is truly wonderful ! A splash of clean spring water opens up the spicy notes with wafts of oaked vanilla and fresh fruit on the pallet. Definitely a sipping companion when 5 o'clock strikes. Or maybe sooner. Cheers!

19th January 2017

Great for sipping!

Love this bourbon! Great aromas, and taste is wonderful. Just the right amount of a pepper and oak combination.
For the money, I think this is the best value out there. If you're going to mix it with Coke, perhaps you can save a few bucks and get something like Crown Royal, but for a sipping whisky Woodford is awesome!

12th January 2017

Kentucky Bourbon Bossman

Peppery sweet oak with honey notes and a hint of toasty maple. Was recommended by a friend to whom I am forever grateful as this has become my favorite go-to whisky whilst enjoying a sherried cigar or cubano. Totally worth the price.

9th January 2017

I enjoy Scotch, Rye and Bourbon and tried this one for the first time. Popping the cork immediately gives you the oaky and toasted notes that are soon transferred to the palette with the sweetness of caramelized nuts. Amazingly Brourbacious!

25th December 2016

I have tried many scotch, but this is the reason that made me switch to bourbon.

24th November 2016

It is my first top Bourbon after JD and JB stuff. I love this one and I will buy it again.

28th October 2016

Perfect Taste... Very Smooth

I would not typically consider myself a connoisseur, but I have sampled many whiskeys over the years. I really can't believe it's taken me this long to try Woodford Reserve. Amazingly smooth… And perfect on the rocks. I have found my new drink. Love the taste and the classy look of the bottle.

22nd October 2016

My first bourbon!

Oak campfire, potpourri, pinecone, burnt caramel, vanilla, sweet decadent honey, spices. My first bourbon, the closest thing to this I've had is the Nikka All Grain. It's an amazing dram (drinking neat) full of oak wood campfire, potpourri, winter spice, and sweet decadent honey. I can't believe I only paid $25 for the bottle!

11th September 2016

Brother and some friends and I like to play weekend connoisseurs with scotch and bourbon. We're very lucky to have a bar nearby that has an excellent selection of very high end bottles and a Sunday happy hour. I've had the good fortune to try all of the Johnnie Walker labels, bunnahabhain 40(?) and a number of others. This ranks as a great go to bourbon. It was gifted to me at Christmas and I've been sipping ever since. More complex but not as smooth as say blue label (though I'm becoming increasingly confident that that's more marketing than anything). Too echo other reviewers, you cannot go wrong getting some.

9th August 2016

New fav

Great sipping whiskey. Very smooth and flavorfull.

2nd August 2016

New Mainstay

I love whiskey. Scotch, Irish or bourbon. Many a Glen, blackbush or powers; Jack, Jim or Dickle; I've put in the hours. But as all of these new fangled craft distilleries have been popping up with micro batch this and select reserve that, I decided to go on an incredulous tasting tour. Personally I have been partial to good old Kentucky bourbon, but over the years the three wise men impressed me less and less. Most of the new stuff even less so. My interest waned. Until I tried the Woodford. So many of the things I love in one sip. Liquorice and smoke and leather and oak, but also cherry and vanilla and chocolate. Complex without being overbearing, a seemingly effortless balancing act. At a more than reasonable price, I have unexpectedly found my new standard. 2-3 drops of water and the Woodford Reserve Distillers Select truly comes to life. Please do yourself the favor.

Sweet Cherry Pie

Woodford Reserve: nose is cherries, cream, vanilla, sarsaparilla, faint baking spices and wood. Subdued burn. Taste is cherry pie, vanilla, caramel sweetness, licorice, spice and pepper at the end. Viscous, chewy mouthfeel. Burn is moderate, needed a few drops of water to mellow. Very interesting, 8/10.

Nutty buddy

Excellent. Actually better than single malt scotch whisky from Scotland. This will be my new favorite.

18th June 2016

Just right

This bourbon is just perfect! Classy bottle with a classy taste!

2nd June 2016

Tried many inexpensive bourbons

After trying pretty much every bourbon from my local supermarket, this one goes down very smooth. I'm not much of a bourbon drinker, but this one takes the cake.

27th May 2016

An Elegant Bourbon

Very round and sweet aroma, oaky, rich but delicate. Hint of caramel popcorn. On the palate this is very relaxed and easygoing, sweet grassy notes and definite nut/nut oil notes. A warming corn sweetness complimented by a spicy rye background. The finish is long and carries out the flavours nicely. This is a very elegant bourbon, and an elegant drink. Interesting to see a bourbon that is triple distilled, and I find it makes this quite characteristic. I like the bottle as well, sort of craft/artisanal look to it, though I'm not a fan of the glue and bits of paper that stick to the neck of the bottle after opening, but no big deal. A pleasant experience.

12th May 2016

top shelf; bottom dollar

This is my favorite bourbon neat, by a mile. More complexity, viscosity, depth and flavor than many whiskies of any style. I can nose this indefinitely. For the price it is unbelievable.

19th April 2016

10th April 2016

Why pay more?

This bourbon just does not do it for me. Very bland and more expensive than most bourbons in the same category. I'd rather have a bottle of Buffalo Trace or Wild Turkey any day.

15th March 2016

The best bourbon

The best bourbon.

14th March 2016

Why is the first almost always the best

As you may've guessed this was my 1st Bourbon and boy oh boy was it memorable. I use to always whiskey face every spirit no matter how rare or expensive it was, luckily not the Pappy but Johnnie Walker Blue was one victim. Turns out I was drinking it wrong, I would knock it back like a cowboy and wince. I was influenced into Bourbon by the guys at a cigar forum and started my research. It was Bourbon or bust to me as I was tired of not having the taste for top shelf spirits.

I picked the Woodford Reserve because it was HIGHLY recommended and incredibly affordable. I also bought a Glencairn whiskey glass to help aid my experience. First uncorking and nosing brought a warm cinnamon/menthol like mint to my senses. Wow this isn't what I expected (in a good way). Hear goes nothing...first sip (prime the palate). Jaw literally on the floor!!!! I need a 2nd sip. Long finish and simply put; ART in a glass. I have yet to have a bourbon quite like it. Quite literally it meets all the requirements for the perfect bourbon. Thank you Chris Morris & Woodford Reserve team.

9th March 2016

My Basis for Bourbon

This was actually one of the first Bourbons I ever had, and I have kept going back to it since. It's the best of what I have tried (other than Woodford's other products) and for the price it really is a great buy. 10/10 highly recommend.

29th February 2016

I am drinking this one straight from the bottle.

I love this bottle so much. Feels great in the hand. Only downside is the "glu-ie" sticker, that leaves trace of glue on the neck when removed. I had to use some olive oil, and it went off with some work. A gentleman should drink from a proper glass, but I am no gent. If you are a 30-60 eur/usd drinker like me, you should buy Woodford at least once before you die. You might to consider not return to "cheap" malts, after you ve tried it.

5th February 2016

Really enjoyed this as my first bourbon, the sweetness came through excellent and the spices were limited but right! Will definitely buy again

22nd January 2016

My "Go To" Whisky

Simply put, I consider Woodford Reserve the finest and most satisfying whisky I've ever had the privilege to drink. I've drunk whisky (and whiskey) across this globe and I always return to my favorite - Woodford Reserve.

18th January 2016

Old faithful, as I have tried many of the new bourbons on the market but keep coming back to Woodford!

10th January 2016

My bottle was emptied in 10 days. But I just drank it slowly straight from the bottle threw the days, more times per day when i felt like it, maybe a quarter of the shot. Not getting drunk, I dont even drink that much actually ( a shot a day). Loving that nose from the bottle, wonderfully delicious....They where time threw the day, when I was working, the smell just came to me from somewhere....thinking about coming back home and enjoying it again. I just felt...hmmm. Love. i would put this spirit in category of Hennessy Fine or Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Not in the sence that they are the same or to similar, but emotions that they carried with it. To me.

19th December 2015

I am by no means a connoisseur, so I won't be using technical language here. All I will say is that, for me, Woodford Reserve is my favourite bourbon. It's just so... smooth and well-rounded, with just enough heat and it leaves a lively tingle on the tongue that I adore. It's also available at £22 a bottle on Amazon right now, which is a must-buy.

Love it.

15th December 2015

Tastes like Drambuie

After reading all the rave reviews here I went out and bought a bottle of this. I am not impressed at all. It tastes sickly and thick. It's a woman's drink. I like a man's bourbon like Wild Turkey 101. I'll keep the rest of the bottle for guests but from now on I'm sticking with the chicken.

13th December 2015

Pleasant surprise. On par with Hennessy. My word.

Wow. i really like this one. My regular "bourbon" in rotation is Jack SB or Jack MD 1, I was all out of my bourbouns. So the hunt was on. I went to the supermarket and there it was, all hidden down in the shelf 2 or even shelf 3, top shelf stuff like Chivas 18, Laga 16, Laphroaig 10, and funilly hardly drinkable stuff like Livet 12, Fiddich 12, Fiddich 15, Morengie 10, Scapa non age, so that told me the supermarket guys dont have a clue.
The price was 33 euros, so quite expensive. I had 20% coupon, so I got it for 27 euros. Whic I feel is a bargain. Took Dimple 15 with it (has been a year while I had it, good every day drink), and 3 miniatures (Martell, Hennessy, Chivas 12). Not worth a full bottle purchuse for me, at this time.
Have to say that Woodford is really worth every euro. Great on the nose. Interesting. When you wash your mouth with it it is super smooth, a little burnier then hennessy, but you can literally wash it for a minute or two. Please do this experiment, while enjoing it at home. I did a comparisement of all 5 spirits I currently have in my bar, and Woodford is 1. or 2. Hennessy is a bit sweeter, maybe even more wooddier, but I still kind of prefer Woodford. I also like the 43% vs 40%. I think spirits should be bottled at 43-48%. 40% is just rubbish. So in conclussion, If you like a special one, or the one to switch from Jack, Chivas 12, JWB 12, or any mayor cognacs...This is the one to go...You will not gonna want to mix this with anything, its so precious. Have to say, that Woodford is better than JWB 12, better than Chivas 12, better than Dimple 15, better then Livet 12, and Fiddich 12, 15 and 18. It is probably in top 10 alcoholic drinks I ever had in my life (probably tasting 1000 of them). Cheers guys. And fuck the recesion, life is good if we can drink stuff like this.

6th December 2015

The Milli Vanilli of Bourbon

Or is it the Monkees? But at least the Monkees had charazzzma. Conceived in the lab, bottled from stuff that was lying around. A marketing and packaging triumph, sadly created for those who think those are the most important aspects of a bourbon. "We love your Woodford way," says no one with a discerning palate.

2nd December 2015

Fantastic Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Was lucky to get a bottle of Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select as a gift from a friend in the US sent all the way to Norway. Batch 1063 Bottle 6691. I have been into Scotland Single Malts for years, and have tasted some different Bourbons as well. But, this Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is truly amazing! Rich and full, and a subtle "warm" cool smoothness - almost impossible to describe. Smell is just highly sophisticated and really stays with you. A must have in any serious Whiskey collection!

29th November 2015

Extraordinary sipping bourbon -- keep the ice and water away!

As a sipping bourbon served straight up with not ice or water, it continues to amaze me that (a) Woodford Reserve contains 42-percent ABV, and (b) that here's a relatively high proportion of rye in the mash bill. There is no palate numbing from the alcohol or "bite" from the rye. The bourbon is exceedingly smooth, perhaps even too gentle for some bourbon aficionados. If you've not tried it, do so.

22nd November 2015

Amazingly great sippping bourbon with virtually no "bite"

Awesome bourbon! I should buy it more often!

29th October 2015

great with cigar

I was introduced to Woodford about 15 years ago at a cigar smoker. I have been drinking it since then. Wonderful

20th October 2015

The best Bourbon

very smooth sipping whiskey

8th October 2015

Great in Old-Fashioned cocktails..

Master of Malt, you are indeed correct. This bourbon makes (in my opinion) the best Old-Fashioned cocktail. It holds its own against the orange zest and the bitters, and the body carries through to the finish on your palate. My only downside to this bourbon is that it doesn't come in a larger bottle...

1st August 2015

Top Bourbon

Ive been trying a few bourbons here and there, converted from a scotch drinker, i like the spicy flavor of bourbon, and recently tasted Woodford Reserve, the other brands were bold, strong and flavorful also, but Woodford seemed more well rounded, and had everything the all the other bourbons had far my favorite..!

22nd July 2015

You're off your rocker

This bourbon sells for $18 and is considered mid-shelf. Anyone who knows anything about bourbon will tell you its good but you guys are waaay out of market on price.

12th July 2015

Powerful, uplifting, gorgeous!

6th July 2015

Best "Finish" (In My Experience)

There are a lot of whiskies that I hold in high regard, but I believe Woodford Reserve has the single best "finish" that I have ever come across in any whisky. It is the sort of finish that makes me close my eyes and forces me to have to remember to start breathing again once it is through.

7th June 2015

Biker of Bourbon

I much enjoyed Woodford's distellery, where we had lunch on our Harley tour of the Bourbon Trail. For some reason, though, I didn't remember liking Woodford. Today, I bought a bottle and now I know how wrong I was. This stuff is great. I usually prefer Wild Turkey 101, but I think I like this better. Oddly, if you have a Tostito chip followed by a sip of Woodford, it leaves an almost cigar tasting finish. Very good..maybe one of my favorite things about Kentucky!

2nd May 2015

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about Bourbon... but I do know that I've tried a few, and none compare to this. Smells great, tastes better. Love it.

20th April 2015

great Bourbon!

Absolutely one of my favorites.

27th March 2015

Tripled Distilled

What other Bourbons are tripled distilled?

2nd March 2015

good stuff

Best whisky I've ever dranK. Very smooth, unbleevable flavor

3rd February 2015

Bourbon at its best!

Good for sipping, good as a mixer (Old Fashioned), readily available, quite cheap.

21st January 2015

Best in class

The nose is very sweet almost like bubblegum and the taste is just the same. This bourbon is smoooooth and easy to sip on. The finish is sweet, dry, with very little spice, and oh so delicious. This is my favorite bourbon so far.

14th January 2015

Sweet, easy sippin'

Delicious! Honeysuckle and vanilla notes, fragrant nose. It is clean, refined, and dangerously drinkable

3rd January 2015

My sister bought me a bottle of this for Christmas yesterday and I'm just now opening it. This is actually as good as the bottle looks. I'm more than satisfied, I'll be buying this for myself from now on!!!!

26th December 2014

Made me a Bourbon lover

Had the typical JD before trying this and man it is awesome, never really a Bourbon man till I tried this.

On the rocks is preferred, a strong first sip but then afterwards very smooth, one slight niggle is a very bitter aftertaste but this can be over looked by drinking more!

25th December 2014

Bourbon consumer

Unmistakable scent of isopropyl alcohol.

10th December 2014

Really like it

I'm more of a single malt scotch man but I do tend to try different whiskies from time to time. This one was is very enjoyable. Nice flavours, I definately picked up the rye content along with winter spices. Also very long pleasant finish. 9/10

23rd November 2014

Very impressed

As a complete Bourbon novice I'm very impressed with this. The first taste on the tongue was quite similar to certain Scotch whiskeys, but the flavour completely evolves on the palate. Instead of the smoky, sometimes overpowering flavours of a Scotch, you get a delicate sweet finish going through vanilla on to butterscotch (and I normally think those kind of flavour descriptions are only written by people who take themselves way too seriously!). As I got closer to the bottom of the glass I found myself liking it more and more. Bourbon convert right here!

18th November 2014

My favorite

After trying multiple bourbons & blends throughout the years, Woodford is by far the favorite even after taking all of the bourbon tours. Can't wait to get back to Loretto!!!

8th November 2014

Disappointed on the trail

Great tour, great guide, top notch upgraded distillery and grounds, good food, terrible bourbon. Both samples smelled and tasted like rubbing alcohol. May try again in future but no time soon.

27th October 2014

Lovely, smooth, tastes like a southern sunset

Absolutely lovely - just what a great bourbon should be. Deep taste, smooth as southern soul music and lingers long in the memory. I actually woke up the other day yearning for a taste of this - slightly concerning. There is some citrus and wood, a touch of smoke, and a full, classic mature bourbon taste. Feels like America. And I can absolutely recommend the Maple Finish expression if you can find it. It's a dream of a bourbon and I'm rationing myself to a drop once a week, as I'm not sure if I will find it again.

1st October 2014

Caught By Surprice!

Perfect bourbon.
I totally lost my heart here!

Try it...

26th September 2014

This is my absolute favorite PERIOD.

15th September 2014

Way better than best selling bourbons

Got it for my birthday, and opened it straight away. Wonderful nose and taste.

12th September 2014

A revelation

New to Bourbon - have only tried the clichés JD and Jim Beam to date - but this is a revelation. Smooth, tasty, and inexpensive. A great sipping whiskey. I would recommend with a drop of Angostura bitters on ice...just lovely.

31st August 2014

Tried for the first time

I usually drink single scottish malts.
Woodford is as good as any Scottish malt. Excellent, wish I'd tried it before. I'm 67 and like the previous reviewer relaise what I have missed.
Take it straight with an ice cube.Very smooth. Great to chill out with at the end of the day.

6th August 2014

61 years old and tried them all

I'm 61 and the biggest problem with Woodford Reserve is that i never tried it until this year. I just didn't know what i had been missing. Oh my misspent youth. Dang, that makes me wonder if maybe i should have shopped around a little bit more before i got married!

21st July 2014

Also got a bad bottle

I was searching to find if anybody else had recently got a bad bottle of reserve and found the review below. I love this bourbon and opened a bottle 2 weeks ago to get hit with the smell and taste of rubbing alcohol. I contacted Woodford and they responded very quickly with a request to get the bottle so they can analyze it. Will see what happens.

14th June 2014

cigar and woodford

I'm a cigar smoker and love my woodford with it. Compliments each other. I'm a neat drinker and love the flavor and smell.

6th June 2014

great complex bourbon

I go plenty on the nose citrus, vanilla, slightly burnt caramel, first sip some burn and almost iodine peatiness which doesnt last long, then vanilla and oaky butterscotch. great long sippin whisky. smelling the empy glass was like toffee very pleasant

23rd May 2014

Must have got a bad bottle.

Batch: 117
Bottle: 2951

Absolutely undrinkable. Nose: ethanol, actually burns and makes your eyes water. Horrible varnish turps stink.

Taste: Varnish. Hint of butterscotch. Semi unpleasant but very long finish of nuts and banana.

Cost: way too much. This is not worth £30/$50.

19th May 2014

2nd April 2014

My first proper bourbon, really smooth to drink. If the nose was a glade plug in, it'd be all over the house.

28th February 2014

Smooth Bourbon

Smokey, oak, butterscotch and apple which is mellow and has a light alcohol scent which is pleasing rather than assaulting
It has Generous flavor, complex and smooth all at the same time, Buttery and oaky, hints of apple and spices
It is Perfect sipping whiskey to relax with after a long day. Almost no burn, the finish is long and delightful. This whiskey is, in my opinion so rounded, clean and balanced I would be hard pressed to find a better one for the price, I’m extremely pleased! This is one to have on hand at all times -BeerandWhiskeyHQ

WoodFord Reserve at THAPAR'S

We were introduced to WoodFord Reserve at Thapar's party. The stuff belonged to Robert, and before he could reach the party his bottle was opened by other guests and the way Robert felt when he saw his bottle being ripped he was I actually realised the love he had for WOODFORD RESERVE.

18th December 2013

Wait for it

For me, this is all about the finish. I found the palate quite watery with not much to it, but wait a while and all of a sudden, there's an explosion of vanilla sweetness.
For the price, this is a great whiskey.

11th December 2013

Beach Bourbon

This is simply the best bourbon I've had to date. I pick up a bottle of this superb bourbon every October and head to a beach for fall break. The salt air and Woodford on the rocks is an incredible combination.

18th September 2013

My Favorite Bourbon

A co-worker brought a bottle of Woodford Reserve to the summer picnic at my boss' house. I had been exploring whiskey, looking for something that I actually enjoyed neat. After trying a shot, I decided to add a bottle to my own collection where it sits in front of the Elijah Craig, Four Roses, and Eagle Rare. Truly a masterful Bourbon, easy to sip and enjoy neat or on the rocks. Just please don't waste in on a mixed drink!!

24th August 2013

Best Old Fashion

Really like this tipple, excellent for an old fashion. The nose is long and pointy, with notes of brown sugar and Friday night bbq. The taste starts fruity with hints of lemon and black grape followed my mellow sunflower seeds, 15 day old orange with clove and very small hint of raspberry. not to be missed.

23rd August 2013

Incredible Bourbon a Lovely Surprise

Tried this wonderful Kentucky Bourbon and was truly surprised by the smoothness and depth of flavor, as well as a glorious finish. Nose: Carmel, butterscotch , and an almost 'anise' aroma, flowed by spice and pepper. Taste: Spicey, Vanilla, and a whisper of smoke, followed by a burst of crisp mint and fresh ginger with virtually no heat on the throat. Finish: for me, there was further rich, toffee-vanilla, followed closely with a burst of summer peach that lingered in the mouth a good half hour. Incredible Kenntucky Bourbon and goes head to head with my usual favorite - Blanton's! Will definitely add this to my home bar.

21st August 2013

Love this stuff

I like it so much I'm making a detour on my return trip home from KC to stop by and see where this stuff I's made.

5th August 2013

I have tried numerous bourbons and I can say that woodford on the rocks is one of the or thee best out there.

5th August 2013

Favorite Bourbon

This is great stuff! It is very easy to drink and entertaining for all levels of whiskey connoisseurs. If you want one of the best bourbons, look no further

13th May 2013

George - Woodford Reserve

Really popular bourbon and justly so, full of character and very versatile. Agree with the chaps at Master of Malt - makes an excellent old fashioned, enjoyable on its own, and great value for money. Nose: Dense, creamy, charred oak. Vanilla sweetness. Treacle and spice with a dash of leather. Palate: Nicely rounded, with a good hit of spice, toasted oak, sweet rye and a good nutty coffee. Almost syrupy. Finish: Good length, rather sophisticated with more of that sweet rye and toasted oak. Vanilla rounds off with just a lingering touch of spice and fine leather.

18th April 2013

Had this at a bar a week ago and is the best bourbon i tried so far. It's got a nice pop-corn taste to it.

2nd April 2013

Still my favourite bourbon. Not an outrageous price. A simple, old fashioned bottle design and an elegant yet masculine drink for the grown ups. Smooth and well rounded. Drinks like Chuck Norris in a top hat.

My Favourite Bourbon So Far To Date.

This has to be my Favourite Bourbon so far to date. It is smooth and classy. i could drink it all day. Im young and English so love whisky but if i fancy a change il have this. Another thing to thank the Americans for!
(Shhh don't tell them i said that or your never here the end of it!)

17th January 2013

Despite being a high rye bourbon, the spice wasn't very forward. I found it all rather rough on the back of the throat, too. I only have the sample, and perhaps what I ate earlier this evening is affecting the taste, but I think this quite inferior to the van Winkle I sampled last night. Karl

9th October 2012

Now I know what my grandfather would call "sippin whiskey" is. You can do a shot of any whiskey but this stuff you want to savor...

28th September 2012

Very good

I really liked this after trying gentleman jack and buffalo trace. Just seemed that slightly higher quality to me! Very good bourbon IMHO

Wonderful !!!

I was a bit of a bourbon novice when I came onto this site and the first bottle I bought was Woodford reserve, based on the recommendations. They are all right, this is a wonderful bourbon, especially if like me, you are just starting to get a taste for the finer tipples that are out there

17th July 2012

Simply the best?

Reall, I have yet to try a better Bourbon. This has smoothness, taste, bite and class. Highly rated.

26th May 2012

The best bourbon !!!

18th April 2012

Simply wonderful

I can't rate this bourbon highly enough. It is sweet, gently on the palate and throat with practically no alcohol burn as it slides gently down. It's almost like the creme caramel of whiskeys, and if you've never tried it - treat yourself! Oh, and as a little extra to make you (or the person you're gifting it to) feel special, you can even register your bottle with the distillery.

Smooth as silk

I was introduced to Woodford Reserve while at the K.Derby 6 years ago. My father was a Old Grand Dad man and before he passed away the ultimate intro to Woodford, he said he never knew Bourbon tastes so good on the rocks. My Favorite as well as other Bourbon drinkers I turned it onto.

3rd December 2010

Where's the heat?

Lovely, it almost feels like an Angel urinating down your throat, mellow yet full of flavour and a noticable absence of heat on the way down and unlike most Bourbons it's also not throaty at all, if a premium Bourbon is your thing, then this is for you, Oh, and if you're rich enough, contact the company as they also do bespoke blends that are different from the Distiller's Select.

26th December 2009

Rich, full, soooo smooth!

I like this with a couple of ice cubes (no more or you ruin it!) and like to sip it slowly. I lived in Kentucky and this stuff is like nectar! lovely stuff.
