This is the seventh small-batch release from Wolfburn, mainland Scotland's most northerly distillery. Only 5,100 bottles of this special single malt have been filled. It's made up of two batches of spirits married together. The first spends seven years in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butts. The second is a lightly-peated spirits matured in first-fill bourbon casks.
Rich and sweet-smelling with baking spices, molasses, espresso, dark cherries and a hint of bonfire.
Nuts galore, almonds and hazelnuts mingle with pungent smoke, dried fruit, treacle and spices.
Sweetness and smoke linger on.
$33.74 - $88.46
Had this one as part of a whisky tasting and I was really impressed. Really good balance of sweet and peat notes. I would definitely buy it again.
