A pleasant surprise
Didn’t know what to expect as I’d never tried anything from Wolfburn before. Decided to give it a go without any pre-read notes. I was blown away by the character and flavour packed into this considering it’s clearly young.

FABULOUS>>> FABULOUS
Papaya, and mango on nose, then sherry too. a medium finish and always controlled... mouthfeel doesnt have the oil, as you'd expect fron young whisky but this is FABULOUS>>> FABULOUS.

Good stuff
Nosing: Sherry, salinity, wooden, nutty vibes. Pecan and almond especially. Crisp cracker like a Ritz.
Taste: again crisp cracker (must be the barley) oaky bitterness in the front, dried cherries, fruit cake type dried fruits and bread.
Finish is oaky bitter, more of the bitter dried fruits, and a bit waxy walnut type mouthfeel.
A good intro to scotch and maybe a damn fine dram

Young, interesting but too expensive for the competition
I was looking forward to try this out and as soon as it was availible nearby, I picked up a bottle.
Nose - honey, sweet, ripe grapes, cherry, bubble gum and alcohol.
Taste - Strong spirit, fresh oak, oaky bitterness, a touch of honey.
Finish - Bitter oak, dark honey, oily mouthfeel, taste of metal, iron, medium/short finish.
it is definitely interesting but at the same time it is also obvious that it is young. It benefits from air A LOT. Once the bottle was 2/3, I left it sitting (cork on) for a week and then returned, comparing with the same bunch of whiskies as before and it was a lot better than before. Would be nice to see Wolfburn's offerings after 5-6 years. At the time they're doing everything right, the physics are holding them back but in few years this could e very good. would be nice to taste a bit more sherry in the actual taste and finish not just nose. And the price is too high, because at the moment it can't compete in the market.

Great whisky
Incredibly smooth for such a young whisky, don't know how they do it but it works for me.

Wolfburn in good shape
Wolfburn Aurora 46% vol. Sherry Oak
Maturation: 40% second-fill quarter cask of, 40% first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, 20% first-fill Oloroso Sherry hogsheads
Nose: note of dark chocolate, raisins in chocolate, cherries in chocolate, fruit, hints of coffee, malty, coconut chips (at least for a moment), pleasant and quite complex, nice balance
Taste: dried fruit, bittersweet, nut mix, sherry notes, fruit jam, barrel, malt, warming, nicely hidden alcohol, all delicate, not overwhelming
Finish: quite long, warming, fruity with a hint of honey and spices
Very good dram, again young but nicely composed, notes of sherry are delicate, do not dominate the distillate, we do not have smoke here, it is fruity, honey and pleasantly sweet, but definitely not liqueur, very balanced sweetness.
