Wire Works - Amarone Wine
This is the first single malt in the Wire Works Wine Series from Derbyshire's White Peak distillery, as its team experiments with the influence of a variety of different wine cask finishes on its robust, lightly peated house style. This edition was initially matured in bourbon barrels before a 16-month finish in fresh Amarone wine barriques. Amarone is a rich and fruity red wine from the Veneto region of northern Italy and there are generous layers of rich fruit, chocolate and spice to be found here.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich dark notes of cassis and cacao, citrus oil, summer berries, ginger, and polished oak.
Palate
Juicy, dark cherries, sweet sultanas, tangy berries and warming woody spice, with cinnamon, anise, and a touch of nougat.
Finish
Dark fruit studded chocolate, gummy fruit sweeties, mocha, and oak char.
