Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Good balance and complexity with hints of oak, smoke and toffee. There's a good fruity note, with plenty of malt.

Palate

Really malty and quite sweet with honey, fruit and toffee. Supple and sumptuous.

Finish

The finish is long and quite complex with notes of oak, peppy spices, and creamy vanilla.

Don't fix it if it's not broken

Recently going through some artefacts of my departed grandfather, we discovered this whisky. We have a different and unusual bottle shape, but otherwise the label and the coloration looks exactly the same. We think that the bottle we have must be dating from the 1970s or early 1980s. Opening it, we really enjoyed the whisky - it seems very well balanced and the tasting notes here seem to apply very well to the product that my grandfather bought. Therefore, I'm inclined to suggest that it's got a good longevity to its recipe and if the current product is anything like the 50-year-old product, I'm sure it will be enjoyed by many.
