WhistlePig is a fantastic brand of straight rye whisk(e)y which is distilled and initially matured in Canada before being aged further, at the WhistlePig Farm in Vermont. This 10 year old straight rye is made with 100% rye and delivers a full-on flavour profile of clove, mint, barrel char, creamy caramels and butterscotch. Properly excellent stuff.
Fresh peppermint and herbal thyme initially, with sweet vanilla and marzipan developing. Creamy butterscotch, raspberry jam and orange rind round it off.
Warm baking spices, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice burst to life and are tempered by sweet muscovado sugar, bright oak and dark chocolate. Vanilla cola and caramel shortbread linger.
Medium-length, with warm rye spices, sweet malt and sour cherries.

This a very excellent rye. Very smooth with just right amount of bite.
I share the previous rater's outrage at the deception perpetrated by the makers of Whistle Pig as to where it was bottled. That kind of perfidy must not stand especially when it comes to fine whiskey. However, the simple fact remains that this is a really, really good whiskey.
