“I’ld actually dare call it refreshing, perfectly fit (yet not exclusively) for a summer night on the terrace … An aroma and flavor profile you don’t come across all too often.”

Description

One of two initial releases from The Whisky Work range, King of Trees is a 10-year-old blended malt made with Highland whiskies, and a portion of the whisky was finished in a cask made from native Scottish oak. It doesn't overpower the flavour profile, but does help bring out some bright orchard fruit freshness and bright oak notes.

Nose

White grapes, green apples and butterscotch, then sherbet lemons, golden barley and a flicker of nutmeg. There’s a note of Victoria sponge cake with fresh raspberries present too before dried fruit and woody tannins emerge.

Palate

Dark fruit compote, dried citrus peels and a helping of barley sugar at first, with a little vanilla, a hint of balancing wood spice and a touch of creamy nuttiness.

Finish

Slightly drying, a little spicy and a lingering syrupy sweet.

Luscious

Really yummy. Cut grass floral notes and oak. Hopefully we will see more Scottish oak casks used. Worth the price

harsh and unrefined

having got many whiskies in my collection from around the globe, this is almost undrinkable and certainly not worth the price tag.alcohol burn and spice overpowers everything.

Master of Malt Customer Nov 27, 2021

Very glad myself to taste a dram that thrives less on sweet notes

I’ld actually dare call it refreshing, perfectly fit (yet not exclusively) for a summer night on the terrace … An aroma and flavor profile you don’t come across all too often.

Delicious

Smooth and moreish. Light notes and easy to drink.

Kevin Gloyne Jun 1, 2020

The whisky does work

Plenty of fresh ripe fruits, cereal sweetness, and a little wood spice to round things off. A lovely summer evening dram.
