Whisky Sponge Edition No.83 is a single refill hogshead of 17 year old Westport Scotch whisky, a teaspoon malt. Tea-spooning is the practice of blending a small amount of single malt from another distillery into a cask of whisky and when a whisky is bottled as 'Westport' it means the majority of the spirit has come from one famous Highland distillery. The giraffe on the label is a clue. This example was distilled in 2006, aged in a refill hogshead cask, and bottled at 17 years of age at a slightly reduced ABV of 55%.
