Wee Smoky is single grain Scotch whisky, but not as you know it. As you might have figured out from the name, it's an enjoyably smoky expression, having been finished in peated casks. It still retains delicious fruity notes and vanilla-rich elements that you will expect from grain whisky, but the smoky flourishes make for an intriguing dram. Earthy vanilla pod with the first wafts of drying, oaky smoke, followed by a touch of green apple.
Flamed orange and a little drizzle of honey, milk chocolate, toasted cedar.
A final touch of peppercorn develops on the finish.
Found this to be quite the versatile whisky. Mixed, straight, on the rocks - very subtle throughout! It's a dram I use to introduce friends who don't drink whisky to whisky and it has been a success so far! Highly recommend it straight but I keep mine in the freezer.
