Wee Smoky is single grain Scotch whisky, but not as you know it. As you might have figured out from the name, it's an enjoyably smoky expression, having been finished in peated casks. It still retains delicious fruity notes and vanilla-rich elements that you will expect from grain whisky, but the smoky flourishes make for an intriguing dram. It does particularly well in cocktails and mixed drinks, we'll have you know...
Earthy vanilla pod with the first wafts of drying, oaky smoke, followed by a touch of green apple.
Flamed orange and a little drizzle of honey, milk chocolate, toasted cedar.
A final touch of peppercorn develops on the finish.
Excellent whisky, I like to think of it as a gateway whisky - really easy going down and it isn't blowing your head off so you want to keep going back for more. Have really started testing the cocktail waters with this and It hasn't disappointed. Great in a sour for a little after smoke.
wow, i loved this ! real game changer, a light scotch accessible to younger drinkers . great marketing, scotch with a young vibe. goodbye traditional ( old fashioned ) brands
Really interesting and tasty whisky - especially as part of a cocktail. Love the way the smoky flavour sneaks through and surprises you with every wee sip. I’m hooked!
This is bad. The iodine comes through on the nose, with a very youthful character. Still sweet though. On the palate, it's a very watered down peat but not in a paired back character, and the underlying young spirit has very little redeeming features. Some fruit, but mainly acetone
A smoky, fruity aroma leads to a lightly smoky and sweet flavour on the palate. Since there's smoke but no peat, I've had great success trying this out on my friends who say they don't like whiskies. Excellent in a Rob Roy.
