Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey Bottling Note

Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey has had a redesign, complete with a stylish new label and a bumped-up ABV of 43% (compared to the original's 40%). It remains a satisfying Irish single malt whiskey, packed to the brim with vanilla and honey notes.

Nose: Melted butter, honeyed cereal and a touch of orange pith.

Palate: Rich vanilla and soft fudge, with a touch of granary toast underneath.

Finish: Lingering nutmeg spiciness and a touch of drying oak.

Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey Reviews

Not your normal Irish. In a good way.

I don't do reviews because my taste buds are not yours, and I don't want to spend 5 hours with the English Dictionary coming up with superlatives to become a member of "that" club. But I thought I would take the time and effort to do one for this, because it's worth it.
I purchased this for my mate who loves Irish whiskey, so far I haven't really been bowled over, till this. My 1st smell of it was hedgerow. Floral, light with not hint of any industrial cleaning agents. And then the taste. Shut your eyes and remember honey on toast. It's not sweet at all and there isn't a single punchy flavour, but it coats your mouth, and you find yourself sucking your tongue for more. But for £30, shut up and take my money because I paid far more for a lot worse.

Old school Irish whiskey. A1

Many of the Irish whiskies leave you wanting more. This is, alongside the Glen Moray Elgin Classic, the best value out there period. As far as I know, Tyrconnel is Ireland's only double distilled whiskey and that gives it more kick than the normal. You can really taste the malted barley (of which this is 100%) and the casking, it is a delight, a surprisingly fantastic drink. 5 stars.

Lost it when changed to 43%

I do not, for the life of me, understand why they changed the original recipe. It was the smoothest, tastiest whiskey, now it just tastes like a glorified Jameson.
