Nose

Sweet and crisp with orchard fruits and a malty character. Oaked dryness and an oily note.

Palate

Full and sweet with barley malt and hot buttered granary toast with honey.

Finish

Dry and grassy with a little spice.

Musty, dirty and “peaty”

This is slightly peculiar as an Irish single malt. It has a pronounced musty “peatyness” to it. Otherwise a nice grainy Irish whisky with a subdued shortbread note and a touch of citrus. But in my personal reckoning I will remember this as the peaty Irish whisky. Overall experience is kinda dirty, messy, grainy, musty... interesting but I liked the delicious focus of Bushmills 10 year single malt much more in this price range.

Solid, smooth & subtle, great value

Good value. Smooth, easy to drink for even non-whiskey drinkers. A go-to.

Unique and light

Unique taste. Smoother than peated single malt scotches but still has a hint of the sour oaky flavor in the aftertaste. Still doesn’t beat the taste of red breast or green/yellow spot.

Simple but nice and fresh

I am quite a bit experienced and I can find lovable flavors in all single malts, no matter where they are from. I love the irish malts for their light and smootb freshness. I am not looking for aged complexity here. Tyrconnel is a wonderful light dran which is perfect when I am just looking for that. With it's wonderful fruity nose and the fruity, yet a bit dry palate (I don't taste anything burnt here) and a hint of almondy nuttiness in the finish, this dram delivers a simple but nice experience.

I would go for Connemara if I had to chose one of them

It's an easy drinking whiksey but it has a weird taste, the aftertaste is kinda like MasterOfMalt describes it but I can find no words for the taste, I don't know if I like it.. Tastes a bit artificial, I find alot of the same taste as in connemara peated, but with no peat. Try this if you want to try something new, unique in it's own way. I forgot to say that I kinda like the smell though.
