Turntable Smokin' Riff
Music and malts are loves that we share with the folks at Turntable, a brand committed to creating some of the most interesting new blended whisky on the market. In this case, Smokin' Riff combines a rich, sweet core of North British single grain aged in virgin oak barrels (28% of the blend) with Craigellachie and Knockdhu single malt matured in PX puncheons (24% and 21%, respectively) as well as the peaty power of Caol Ila. One Islay single malt aged in bourbon oak barrels (18%) and the other in red wine barrels (9%). Very cool stuff, this.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Poached pears, charred lemon peel, cinnamon rolls, and the smoke from a beachside bonfire.
Palate
Heaps of toffee and vanilla are joined by spiced blackcurrant chutney, oily orange peel, and smoked cinnamon.
Finish
Smoky, slightly salty, and decadently sweet.
