Tullibardine
Scotland
Single Malt
This is a delicious whisky from Tullibardine, released in 2013. It sees the Highland whisky finished for 12 months in 228-litre Red Burgundy wine casks from Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet.
Spiced, with notes of red berry fruit, vanilla and toasted oak.
Creamy, nutty palate entry with notes of sweet custard, apple peel, red berries and orange blossom honey.
Long finish with plum jam and allspice.
Spiced and rich with a delicious influence from the red wine casks.
I got this for £28. Even at this price here it's well worth it . A very very special dram They nailed it . Fill your boots and smile
Tastes young, expected more, moving it to an everyday drinker.
Smooth satisfying going down with a pleasant sweet aftertaste
Bit disappointed after trying the 225 that I really enjoyed. It's not bad but will stick to the 225
I could have a bad bottle but my experience with Tullibardine is all in the nose. It's complex but not really in a good way. Straight out of the bottle I get a faint but solid whiff of burnt rubber. Threw an ice cube and waited 10-15min for it to roll through some more unpleasant notes (like basically diesel fumes) before it settles down to a pretty standard woody, grassy whisky flavors you would expect out of any decent bottle of scotch.
