A 14 year old, triple distilled Irish single malt whiskey from the Tullamore DEW range, which has been finished in bourbon, Port, Madeira and Oloroso Sherry casks - an expression not often seen on these shores.
Zesty citrus, grilled pineapple and slowly building bourbon-y vanilla.
Big, creamy malt with loads of vanilla tannins. Ripe, sweet red grapes and a hint of poached apple.
Sherried sweetness carries on.
Nose: + very mild and easy + sweet, fruity and floral Flavor: + mellow, coffee and florals + tiny bits of butterscotch + excellent hint of smoke Texture and finish: + very very smooth and delicate texture + mildly thick and spicy on the tongue - harsher as it sits + leaves a pleasant dry finish w hint of smokiness
I got this in a sample size as a gift. I usually have a crock of Tullamore DEW around the house and was happy to get this. I tell you, the 14 year old single malt is so much more than than the standard DEW. More body, more flavor, more character, more everything. As "Do the D.E.W." said, it's to die for. Truly outstanding.
Lovely
Our team of hearty Gaelic ex-pats brought their palates to the table and uncorked the Tully with a bit of apprehension and unbridled enthusiasm. Could this single malt ride on the same wave with the Redbreast and Black Bush, or would it flounder, just short of the mark set by the finest in Irish? After a fine tasting session, culminated in a breach of etiquette, the judges, to a man, agreed: "Tullamore 14 is to die for." Others can describe the single malt in terms of fragrance and hints of whatever.... our team just flat out tells you that this is top of the line and well worth the coin.
