Wow - a 48 year old Tomintoul single malt here from Murray McDavid's Mission Gold independent bottling range! It was distilled in 1967 (only two years after the distillery was founded) and bottled in October 2015. This was drawn from 2 bourbon barrels and bottled at 40.1% ABV.
Thick, rich toffee, vanilla bean and a good helping of charred oak.
More smoke develops, now with sweeter hints of orange oil (and yet more toffee) at its side.
Final wafts of fragrant smoke last.
