Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Orange sherbet, strawberries, lime, brioche, fresh rose. A very subtle touch of coastal air - not much, but just enough to notice.

    Palate

A soft, elegant whisky that boasts a palate packing juicy peach, watermelon and a hint of banana. Buttery malt develops.

    Finish

A slight prickle of baking spice underneath more creamy stone fruit notes.

Reviews for Tomintoul 36 Year Old 1976 (bottled 2013)

I still have my Full Bottle, which i won in a raffle. Do not like Whisky, which is a pity as it looks good in the glass.

    a little overrated

I would have thought this would be similar to the 2007 bottling, which won GOLD award. It might just be my taste in Whisky, but I was expecting this to be a lot smoother and tastier than my other whiskies worth a third of what i paid. I thought it was unfair to compare a Speyside with a Highland, but my other Speyside bottle which was only 35 was smoother with a longer finish. Wish I stuck with the other Speyside I shortlisted, which is a 30 YO, was cheaper and was one I actually tasted.
