Tomintoul 1967 (bottled 2000) - Rare Old (Gordon & MacPhail)

Distilled in 1967 and aged in first fill sherry butts before bottling by Gordon and MacPhail in 2000. Tomintoul are the self-styled distillers of the "gentle dram".

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of winter berries and a compote made thereof. There are notes of heather root and vanilla fudge, notes of sherried peels and chewy sultanas with honey and dried ropes. Hints of Madeira and Bramley apple peel with a touch of peat. The palate is quite full and sweet. There are notes of sherried peels and vanilla cream, the oak is toasty and reveals spice and white pepper, hints of chewy raisins and toffee. The finish is long and chewy with a hint of smoke.
