Tomatin distillery's new no-age-statement release uses virgin oak as well as bourbon casks. It provides a new entry level to the Tomatin range but the use of different casks make this a unique expression.
Lemon, panatella and pine forest. Slightly green with vanilla.
Cracked pepper and sweet barley with pineapple cube sweets. Waves of warming oak beneath.
Sweet but peppered.
A clean and certainly affordable single malt whisky.

Seeing a bottle of single malt for this price got me in a bit of a skeptic mood, especially as I'd gotten used to good blended whiskeys that don't cost much less, but it was cheap enough and nice-looking enough so I went for it. Never made a better choice about alcohol, ever! Smooth tasting and sweet to the nose with a hint of grassiness and oak. Gives a bit of a burning sensation in the nose and eyes on first sniff, but smooooooth and delicious - you'll be drinking more drams than you might be used to!
if you're used to 12-year old whiskys like Bunnahabhain or Glenfarclas this tastes like cheap undermatured malt. You can buy Teachers and get better value
You really get the Virgin oak here, it gives the whole escapade a sense of fun and Joie de vivre. I like my single malts to be one of two things, exceptional examples of the class or experimental. This is both. Very well done.
****on my tastebuds like this..... Even as I read the back of the bottle describing Aroma: Vanilla pods, marshmallow, sponge cake, fresh pineapple, mixed with citrus lemon and boiled sweets. Palate: Light and delicate with a candy sweetness which is peppered with hints of pine, Lemon sherbet, pineapple and crunchy green apples. Finish: Clean, light and refreshing. ***What really was so supernatural about this haunting spirit is that as one takes a sip while reading these words------you can taste the experience and read along in English Language as to the beautiful experience.... Delicious and wow are words that come to mind and look forward to another one as a treat sometime soon.......From West Central Wisconsin to you Scot Blokes responsible for this masterpiece----------------GREAT JOB!!!!!
Very smooth and light on the palate. Clean finish. Can't be beat at the same cost.
