Tomatin distillery's new no-age-statement release uses virgin oak as well as bourbon casks. It provides a new entry level to the Tomatin range but the use of different casks make this a unique expression.
Lemon, panatella and pine forest. Slightly green with vanilla.
Cracked pepper and sweet barley with pineapple cube sweets. Waves of warming oak beneath.
Sweet but peppered.
A clean and certainly affordable single malt whisky.

Ok guys, take this with a cup of salt, because I am bad at whiskey reviews, but I've had my share of good whiskeys, so I can compare. I have read all of the reviews before me before buying tomatin legacy. Honestly, I don't know where are the bad ones coming from.. Without a doubt I can say that I like tomatin 12 very much in the "cheap" whisky department, it never disappoints. It is mellow, smooth, with a tiny little bit of smoke on the nose. Legacy could be compared to tomatin 12 directly. For me they are very similar, except legacy has more oomph (but it's understandable, it is younger), also it has a more noticeable smoky flavors (on the nose and on the palate). Bottom line is, if you are familiar with tomatin 12 and don't know if you should try legacy: TRY IT. They are similar enough to not dissapoint you, just with a little bit of new details :) I hope this helped.
Very disappointing. Obviously very young, needs more of everything! I'm amazed that they thought this was good enough to release as their entry level malt. Don't waste your money.
Stopped by the Tomatin distillery on my way up to Inverness and tried most of their current range. I would strongly recommend stretching to the 12 year old as it is a better balanced and fuller dram than the rather immature, thin and fiery Legacy.
The colour is rich and light amber like in appearance and when rolled around the glass is a little syrupy. The nose has aromas of lemon and almost pine notes Vanilla and caramel notes with an airy freshness in the background. The flavour is light and delicate with a peppery sweetness which has with hints of pine. Boiled lemon sweets, pineapple and crunchy green apples Warming with pine notes again The finish is clean light and refreshing with notes of cracked pepper coming back.
I was so disappointed after trying this one. A young, hot, thin dram without much flavor. Tomatin cashing in, perhaps. I took it to a friend's party and left it there.
