An 18 year old from the Tomatin distillery, finished in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts.
The nose is quite punchy and of good body. There are notes of chewy grape and sultana with winter spice; cloves and cinnamon. There are notes of vanilla fudge and a most supple of smokes, weaving gracefully in cut grasses and apple peels. The palate is quite sweet and full. There are notes of barley sugar and honeycomb. Hints of chocolate orange and cocoa dusted liberally on toasty oak. The finish is long and powerful with a dry, chewy oak and a touch of pepper.
Rich and sherried, with orchard, citrus and dried fruit – apples, oranges and sultanas.
Sweet and honeyed, with a backbone of citrus, fruit cake, chocolate and spice.
Long and warming spice fades to leave fruit and chocolate.

Pungent nose. Mellows nicely in the glass. Harsh initally, but finishes sweet. Toffee comes to mind and stays in my mouth. I like it. Gentle tongue tingle. Hint of smoke.
This one took a bit of time for me... if I'd written this review after the first dram it might have been a slightly lower score. However, I love this whisky. Nice mix of complexity and easy to drink. I also found it paired really well with a nice steak dinner... so that helps.
Truly amazing whisky. Not as "in your face" as some other (highland) whiskies are, but definitely worth buying. Opens up on a drop of water (no ice please) and then this whisky gives wonderful aromas of red fruit, (mainly raspberry and blackberry). On the palate this one has an abundance of sweetness. While not everyone will love this, I certainly do! superb dram which needs time to show it's true potential.
What a wonderful whisky this is. I have to admit that I never have been a fan of Tomatin, but when I tried this one I was totally astonished! A super sherry whisky that is complex and very nice. Try it - you will not be disappointed!!!
Was given this by my son as I mentioned in passing I would like to try his 'local' malt next time I'm up. It's a truly fine whisky. I know there are lots to choose from but this is one of my favourites.
