An 18 year old from the Tomatin distillery, finished in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts.
The nose is quite punchy and of good body. There are notes of chewy grape and sultana with winter spice; cloves and cinnamon. There are notes of vanilla fudge and a most supple of smokes, weaving gracefully in cut grasses and apple peels. The palate is quite sweet and full. There are notes of barley sugar and honeycomb. Hints of chocolate orange and cocoa dusted liberally on toasty oak. The finish is long and powerful with a dry, chewy oak and a touch of pepper.
Rich and sherried, with orchard, citrus and dried fruit – apples, oranges and sultanas.
Sweet and honeyed, with a backbone of citrus, fruit cake, chocolate and spice.
Long and warming spice fades to leave fruit and chocolate.

Wonderful "simple" taste. Much enjoyed cask strength on chilled whisky stones as not to dilute. Need a second dram !
By far the worst whisky i have ever tried. It's just booze, no more. Water does not help, there's just nothing there. If i feel like making an irish coffee this is what i'll use, so there's that at least...
Neat I felt this whisky was underwhelming. But on the rocks it seemed to perform better on the palate, with a pronounced flavor of rubbery apples, followed by honeyed toffee and a long finish. Sometimes one is in the mood for something pretty normal tasting and this could fit that sort of mood. Green apple often seems trite in a whisky, but this one is ok.
I didn't get much out of this at all. Nothing near the MoM notes. Oak is the primary constituent. Additionally there's some bacon grease, a touch of cardboard, and perhaps some vanilla if you want to stretch it. That's not to say I *dislike* it: it's still very drinkable and the maturity is legit. It's interesting in its own way. It's also NCF, and bottled at 46% ABV, both nice touches. And it's certainly one of the most affordable 18 year scotches on the market. Nonetheless the profile to me was fairly underwhelming. YMMV.
Clean and smooth, a bit of bite
