Single Malt
Tomatin
Scotland
In 2014, the Tomatin 12 Year Old was given an update and bottled at 43% ABV rather 40%, as it was previously. This core single malt from the ace distillery in the Highlands is finished for six-to-nine months in Oloroso Sherry casks before being bottled.
Buttery at first, but notes of cooked apple, raisin and almond soon emerge. There are resinous and floral hints as well as some chocolate.
Oak-y vanilla and fresh mint, dotted with stem ginger, a touch of guava and dried orange peel.
Currant buns, a hint of raspberry jam, barley.

Highly recommended whisky and superb value for money. must have in the cabinet
Quite disappointed with this. I consider the Legacy offering by this company to be superior. Pleasing enough but not worth the money.
Retail here in Japan is around $60, but I found it in a half-off promotion. I looked around and found it discounted in other retailers around. Now that Japanese whisky prices are super inflated, this has got to be one best performing $30-$40 drams you can get.
Enjoyed this over Christmas. Sweet whisky, light, slight burn , good sherry presence. Good whisky to see you through an evening.
Superb whisky from a superb distillery. well balanced 12yo with a good hit of sherry and sweetness from bourbon casks.
