Nose Crumbly oat cakes topped with lightly smoked cheese and green apple slices right from the get-go. It moves on to seaweed-y peat, honeydew melon, custard creams and a hint of orange oil.
Palate A rich, creamy and surprisingly mellow mouth-feel (even at 55.7% ABV!) brings the subdued citrus from the nose to the fore of the palate. This is joined by slightly medicinal peat, more oat cakes and toasted brioche. A drop of water brings out white grape notes too.
Finish Very long, with lasting peat heat and candied peels going on and on.
Overall It's not a shy dram, that's for sure - this Tobermory wears its vibrant, peaty heart on its sleeve.
