Tobermory 2013 (bottled 2021) – The Scalasaig
The folks at The Scalasaig hopped over to the Isle of Mull to seek out this fine single malt Scotch. They ended up selecting four fabulous casks from the Tobermory Distillery containing whisky distilled in 2013. After treating the whisky to an 18 month finishing period in Spanish Oloroso sherry hogsheads, it was finally bottled up in 2022. A release of 1,490 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Waxed peels open things up, with juicy raisins and sultanas, a smidge of green oak, and floral honey.
Palate
Sweet dates and plums lead to chocolate honeycomb with oily malt and roasted nuts creeping in.
Finish
Zesty wafts of orange peel, spiced tea loaf, and lingering oak.
