Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Quite light and well-balanced. There is a certain freshness, pertained from notes of cut hay and straw, barley sugars and herbs, notes of cereals and melted salty butter on granary toast.

Palate Medium-bodied with a richness. There are notes of gentle wood smoke and barley sugars, a farmy note with hints of hay and a roots with a touch of cereal sweetness and caramel.

Finish Long and slightly herbal.

Not my taste
It smelt of something not nice , it was awful for my taste

Initially mild, but a good choice for a long winter's evening.
No instant dramatic impact, and unpromising pale straw-like colour, but an unthreatening convivial warmth that grows on you - a good choice for a long evening.

Did anyone else get notes of feces? serious question
quite enjoying this whisky, however the other night I was drinking this and I thought I could smell the bathroom from ye olde sleeping quarters, I tried investigating, smelling everything in my room, from the floor, to the bed itself, all the way to my drawers, then it hit me, I was holding my glass, under my nose, took a big, deep, sniff... and realised I was on the toilet and wasn't drinking whisky. All in all 10/10 would drink on the bog

Superb, classic whisky, with a lovely balance of crispness, cleanness and muscle, ever so slightly saline. Peat just as it should be, not too huge, not too little, unlike some of the Pamela Anderson whiskies out there on the market. I was interested by some of the negative reviews, which really tell you nothing worth knowing about this whisky, other than the fact that people's impressions of taste and quality are hugely influenced by colour (presumably having never seen the stuff as it comes out of a cask), branding, and price. One negative reviewer mentions adding ginger ale, which says it all. Don't be fooled by the price; this is a superb whisky, and an absolute bargain.

My first ever single malt
Bought this last Christmas as my opening delve into the wonderful world of malt whisky. very pleasant single malt whisky, I've had better since (Glenlivet 15, Glenmorangie etc) but there isn't much wrong with this for the price. I would go back.

lovely young malt
best for quality/price comparison on the market. why do people relate the light colour to lack of age when in reality it just means that it has no added caramel to make it look nice, and the slight mistiness when a touch of water is added just means that it is not chill filtered so hurrah for that. ignorance is bliss eh !!!
